Africa faces problems in the health sector, including the shortage of doctors, nurses and the lack of health infrastructure developed, said Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal.

Meghwal said India can help Africa achieve its sustainable development goals by sharing its experiences. He also talked about how India's participation in the health sector in Africa has been steadily increasing and cited the fact that India is the third largest pharmaceutical supplier in Africa.

Mehgwal said that Africa has improved its overall average health expenditure from 4.82% of GDP in 1995 to 6.03% in 2013. Meghwal also said that Africa needs a quantitative health sector.

 

The Indian government has been improving cooperation between the private sector and the government sector in the health sector, he added. Meghwal said the value chain in the health area needs to be improved
