The Center has approved proposals for the creation of 100 Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) hospitals nationwide, AYUSH Minister of State Shripad Yesso Naik said.

The minister said that over the past three years the Union government had approved the publication of 4000 AYUSH doctors in primary health centers across the country. "The salary is being paid by the Union government," he told. He also said that an AYUSH hospital equivalent to AIIMS would be opened within a month in New Delhi.

The ministry has approved the creation of two 50-bed AYUSH integrated hospitals in Theni and Tiruvannamalai districts in Tamil Nadu, he said.

A total of Rs 283.6 lakh has been released from the sanctioned amount of Rs 563 crore for the conservation and development of medicinal plants in Tamil Nadu, the minister added.
