Department of Pharmaceuticals, ministry of health & Family welfare have made important advances in last two years. Which are as follows:

NPPA fixed the prices of 137 medicines under First Schedule of DPCO, 2013 (National List of Essential Medicines 2011) based on market based pricing methodology as enunciated in NPPP

Maximum Retail Price (MRP) was capped under Para 19 of DPCO, 2013, in respect of 106 non scheduled medicines (84 cardiovascular medicines and 22 diabetic).

NPPA revised the ceiling prices of 530 scheduled medicines on 2nd March, 2016 after applying WPI of (Minus) 2.7105% for the year 2015.

NPPA has fixed the retail price of 287 ‘new drugs’ (which fall within the purview of Para 2(u) of DPCO.2013) under Para 5 of DPCO, 2013.

NPPA has issued 638 demand notices for Rs.2260.56 crore (Rs.2092.45 crore under DPCO’ 1995 and Rs.168.11 crore under DPCO’ 2013) consisting of overcharged amount along with interest thereon from 26.05.2014 to 31.03.2016.

Pharmaceutical companies deposited Rs.44.55 crore (Rs.31.90 crore under DPCO’ 1995 and Rs.12.65 crore under DPCO’ 2013) against the demand raised in the past and the aforesaid period.

Pharma Jan Samadhan (PJS)_a web enabled system developed by NPPA with the assistance of National Informatics Centre (NIC), to put in place a speedy and effective complaint redressal system with respect to availability and price of medicine.was launched on 12th March, 2015.

Pharma Data Bank (PDB) an Integrated Pharmaceutical Database Management System (IPDMS) was developed by NPPA in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

Scheme of Consumer Awareness and Publicity through Print, Electronic and Other Media (renamed as Consumer Awareness, Publicity and Price Monitoring) revised with a new component i.e, setting up Price Monitoring and Resource Units (PMRUs) at the State/Union Territories

Vacancies in the post of Directors at Ahmedabad and Kolkata have been posted. A search-cum-selection committee for appointment of Directors for NIPER, Hyderabad, Hajipur, Kolkata, Guwahati, Raebareli, and Mohali has been constituted. The Committee has submitted its report and the matter is under process.

M/s. EdCIL (India) Ltd. has prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for setting up of NIPER, Madurai for which EFC is under process.

The MoU signed between following NIPER and Project Management Consultant (PMC) for construction work.

NIPER, Guwahati MoU Signed with EPIL. Works are already started.

Foundation stone ceremony of NIPER, Ahmedabad held on 16.12.2015.

NIPER, Hyderabad MoU signed with NPCC on 09.12.2015.

17 MoUs have been signed between NIPERs and Industry to Strengthen Academic Industry Linkage in the Visitors Conference held on 4-6 November, 2015.

AICTE issued an Advisory on honouring NIPER Degrees by all AICTE Institutions.

Cluster Development Programme for Pharma Sector started

Uniform Code for Pharmaceuticals Marketing Practices (UCPMP) for pharmaceutical as well as Medical Device Industry was announced to be implemented voluntarily for a period of six months w.e.f. 1.1.2015

An Inter-Ministerial Committee headed by Secretary(Pharma) has been constituted to put the pending issues of Pharma Sector on Fast Track.

Department has instituted Pharma Awards from 2016 to incentivize Pharma Sector

BCPL has steadily improved its performance over the last three years with production figures crossing Rs 100 crore in current financial year.

During 2015-16, IDPL has achieved the highest ever in-house production achieved by IPDL in the last 20 years

Modernized Tablet Section in IDPL, Gurgaon Plant Commissioned by Hon’ble Minister (C&F)

KAPL increased production from Rs 282 crore last year to Rs 350 crore in 2015-16

Jan Aushadhi Scheme has been revamped. No of stores increased to 283 as on 21.4.16.
