Job Description:
Job Purpose
He/She is responsible for developing and implementing multi-stakeholder communications programmes relating to Abbott’s brands and products within the nutrition division, including managing the media profile, monitoring and maximizing brand web & social media presence, developing key brand messages and support PA/PR engagement with a variety of stakeholders including patients, doctors, consumers. Role will work in close partnership with GM, Business Unit Heads and Head Strategy to create and execute annual PA/PR strategy plan.

Major Accountabilities
• Play an active role within brand teams and identify opportunities to work collaboratively with cross-functional colleagues to deliver on brand objectives, including leading Communications element of brand team, providing input/ insight on trends and opportunities during the preparation of the brands plans and ensuring wider brand team are kept fully updated on activities.
• Develop multi-stakeholder brand communications and patient strategy with cross functional objectives. Manage communications programmes through the design and implementation of detailed activity plans to support tactics.
• Develop brand key messages/ stories and other communications materials for use with media
• Proactively identify opportunities for brands engagement with consumers, patients and doctors
• Provide support to sales and marketing leadership – e.g. provide overview of PR activities and media results, produce newsletter where required, inspire salesforce to support communications activities e.g. sourcing media case studies
• Take ownership and drive internal communications relating to division and brands such as quarterly newsletter Livewire, Town hall communications, internal awareness of product miles. Primary stakeholders include the India team, Regional and HQ leadership.


Media
• Establish trusted business relationships with key healthcare, nutrition and food/FMCG related journalists.
• Identify opportunities to proactively place/ pitch media articles for key brands to positively impact the perception of the brand or raise awareness of particular diseases (within local regulations)
• Act as spokesperson for the media
• Advise and counsel media trained executives on delivery of brand messages
• Support affiliate eBusiness Director developing social media programmes for each brand as allowed within company social media policy
• Manage review process for external communications interacting with local and corporate review teams
• Collate case study banks for use with media

Issues/ Crisis Management
• Contribute to issues and crisis management plan, tailoring for each brand/ disease area


Agency Management
• Agency management including budget and account management
• Ensure PR agencies are optimally managed – from having contracts in place to ensure ROI and value for money

General Accountability
• Understand the external environment and anticipate trends
• Manage commercial and medical sign-offs of materials before distribution and ensure local, division and corporate approvals as necessary
• Manage brand PR budgets, where required
• Adhere to all Abbott OEC and corporate policies
