Job Description: We are now looking for 2 experienced bioinformaticians to the national bioinformatics platform at SciLifeLab (scilifelab.uu.se/technologyplatforms/Bioinformatics/), to join WABI. The mission is to provide advanced bioinformatics analyses to some of the most scientifically exciting projects across Sweden, and to provide national courses in bioinformatics. The aim is to enable for Swedish scientists to analyse transcripts and proteins in different organisms related to health and environment. WABI already has ten senior bioinformaticians employed, and you will join an ambitious team with long experience and high competence. Examples of scientific areas at SciLifeLab where WABI is expected to contribute expertise are cancer and complex diseases, evolutionary genomics, metagenomics, as well as ecological and environmental genomics. We also work strategically with integration and combination of data types generated at the various platforms at SciLifeLab, such as chemical biology, structural biology and proteomics.

Requirements:


  • A PhD or similar relevant working experience from advanced studies within bioinformatics, either within academia or industry.
  • Fluent oral and written communication in English.
  • Strong skills in cooperation and communication.

Postdoctoral studies are a strong merit but not a requirement. Experience of development and applications of bioinformatics and/or biostatistics methodologies for design and analysis of large-scale biological datasets, of functional analyses and experimental design within genomics, as well as interdisciplinary projects within SciLifeLab’s research areas is also a merit. We encourage applicants with previous working experiences from major national and international Life Science centres.

The positions are permanent with a 6 month’s trial period. The positions will be placed at the Department for Cell and Molecular Biology, Uppsala University.
