The Institute of Life Sciences was conceived in the context of globalization, to foster research competence in India and to bridge the divide between academic research and the pharmaceutical & biotechnology industries. The institute was incorporated as a non-profit entity under Section 25 of the Indian companies act, facilitating operational autonomy. Construction of the ILS building comprising 44 labs and an administrative block and spanning -130,000 sq.ft. in area, began in 2004 and was completed in January 2007. The institute was inaugurated as a public-private partnership research institute on 29th January 2007, a culmination of the efforts and initiative of the Andhra Pradesh state government, Dr. Reddy's laboratories and the University of Hyderabad. The institute is located in the southeast corner of the campus of the University, one of the largest and greenest campuses in India.

Job Description:

  • Ability to plan and perform experiments under the supervision of the scientist and to contribute the best efforts to the success of the project.
  • To perform parallel and /or conventional synthesis from mg to gm scale.
  • To provide scientific support to the scientist in all research activities.
  • To ensure successful and timely delivery of the products.
  • Knowledge of separation and purification techniques (Column chromatographic methods, Recrystallization, Vacuum distillation, etc).
  • To characterize chemical compounds using various analytical techniques such as 1HNMR, 13C-NMR, Mass, HPLC & IR etc.
  • To analyze and interpreter data correctly.
  • To do literature search using research databases and common search engines.
  • Strong analytical thinking for trouble shooting problems.

Location: DRILS, Gachibowli and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd, Ameerpet (occasionally), Hyderabad.

Minimum Qualification: M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from a recognized university/institute.

Experience: minimum 1 - 2 years in research or Pharma/Chemical industry.
