BIT, Mesra is a "Deemed University" under Sec. 3 of the U.G.C. Act 1956. It functions under the overall supervision, direction and control of a high power Board of Governors, comprising representatives of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the U.G.C., the State Government, The Chancellor, the AICTE, The Hindustan Charity Trust and the Institute Faculty. Shri G.P. Birla is the Chairman of the Board of Governors. The Governor of the state of Jharkhand is the Chancellor of the Institute. The Technical Council decides the academic policy of the Institute.

Pharmacy: Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Research, Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Data Management, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutical Technology.
A Ph. D. Degree with first class or equivalent grade at the preceding degree in an appropriate branch / discipline with a consistently good academic record throughout.
Professor: Minimum 10 years Teaching / Research / Industrial Experience, excluding experience gained during Ph. D. Programme, of which at least 4 years as Associate Professor in premier Academic Institution.
Associate Professor: Minimum 6 years Teaching / Research / Industrial Experience excluding experience gained during Ph. D. Programme, of which at least 3 years as Assistant Professor in premier Academic Institution.
Assistant Professor: Minimum 3 years Teaching / Research / Industrial Experience, excluding experience gained during Ph. D. Programme *.
*Note :-
1. However, Ph.D. candidate with less than three years experience can also apply. Such candidates will normally be considered for Assistant Professor on Contract and will be eligible to be considered for a regular position, once they obtain 3 years experience.
2. Candidates with ME / M. Tech / M. Pharm /M Arch / MUP / M. Phil or equivalent having degree level teaching experience may also apply, provided they are registered for Ph. D. Programme. They would be required to complete Ph. D at the earliest for consideration for regular position.
3. Such candidates who do not fulfill minimum eligibility criteria would be placed in Pay band III (Rs. 15,600- 39,100/-) with AGP of Rs. 6,000/- at suitable remuneration.
Qualified persons include
* Indian Nationals
* Foreign nationals who are Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), in whose case, if selected, permission will be sought from Govt. of India before he/she can join BIT or,
* Other foreign Nationals, in whose case, if selected, appointment will be on contract basis for up to five years, subject to the permission from the Govt. of India before he/she can join BIT.

Salary:
Professor Rs. 37,400/ – Rs. 67,000/- (Minimum of Rs. 43,390/-)+ AGP Rs. 10,000 / Rs.12,000 (Pay band IV)
Associate Professor Rs. 37,400/ – Rs. 67,000/- + AGP Rs. 9,000/- (Pay band IV)
Assistant Professor Rs. 15,600/ – Rs. 39,100/- (Range of Rs. 21,000-28,000/-) + AGP Rs. 7,000/- with additional top-up salary in the range of Rs. 1000-6000/- depending on research achievement (On completion of 5 years of service, they will be eligible for grant of pay in Pay band IV (Rs. 37,400 – 67,000/-) with AGP of Rs. 9,000/-.)
