G.B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development (GBPIHED) was established in 1988-89, during the birth centenary year of Bharat Ratna Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant, as an autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Govt. of India, which has been identified as a focal agency to advance scientific knowledge, to evolve integrated management strategies, demonstrate their efficacy for conservation of natural resources, and to ensure environmentally sound development in the entire Indian Himalayan Region (IHR). The Institute attempts to maintain a balance of intricate linkages between socio-cultural, ecological, economic and physical systems that could lead to sustainability in the IHR.

Application is invited for the appointment of purely project base temporary positions of Research Associate in the NAIP-ICAR funded project on "Enhancement of livelihood security for sustainable farming systems and related farm enterprises in North-west Himalaya".

Emolument: 24000/- pm + HRA
Qualification:

First class M.Sc and PhD degree in Botany, Forestry/ Environmental Science with specialization in cultivation and bioprospecting of medicinal plants/ floriculture and land rehabilitation. Those who have submitted PhD thesis and not yet awarded their degree may also be considered.
Job description and preference for candidates: Preference will be given to candidates having knowledge in nursery raising of medicinal plants and instrumentation and experience of working in the Himalayan region

First class M.Sc in Botany, Environmental Science, Forestry and Agricultural Science
Job description and preference for candidates: Preference will be given to candidates having working experience in hill agro- and rural ecosystems and climate change related issues in the central Himalaya and knowledge of computer.

Age Limit: For Senior Research Fellow less than 32 years. 5 year relaxation for SC/ST/Women/PH and OBC as per Govt. norms.

The selected candidates will be appointed initially for a period of one year and extension will be granted based on performance. Interested candidates with adequate qualification may appear for walk-in-Interview on 30 July, 2013 at 10.00 A.M. in G.B.
