Post : Manager, Medical and Scientific Affairs

Position Objective  
Ø  Increase awareness and provide information and expertise to medical practitioners in Eye Care fields by enhancing their medical knowledge, supporting scientific studies, advancing the diagnosis and treatment of dry eye, glaucoma and retinal diseases
Ø  Facilitate the ability of the Indian Commercial team  to meet its business goals

Areas of Responsibility
Physician Support & Relationship Management   
ü  Responsible for supporting doctors in the management of retinal disease, dry eye, and glaucoma
ü  Provide support to physicians interested in or involved in IITs (Investigator Initiated Trials) or Allergan supported phase IV studies ü  Provide support to doctors on specific patients
ü  Communicate information on relevant disease states, analysis of current vs best practices, patient evaluation and treatment paradigms, and strategies for overcoming barriers to access and optimization of patient outcomes
ü  Provide reactive response to unsolicited customer requests for product information on off-label indications
ü  Facilitate use of standard prepared responses prepared by Global Medical Affairs to answer requests for medical and product information


KOL development
ü  Responsible for the identification of key customer “worklist” to be developed, shared and reviewed on a trimester basis with leadership in the commercial team and Regional Director of Medical Affairs ü  Responsible for gaining agreement on the key customer “worklist” as well as short and long term goals for focus for identified KOL and stakeholders.
ü  Responsible for successful execution of KOL development plan for the identified KOLs and key stakeholders :
o    Engage and develop minimum of 2 KOLs in each key geographic market to be advocate/ trainer/advisor for AGN team and other physicians in India in retinal disease
o    Engage and develop minimum of 2 KOLs in each key geographic market to be advocate/ trainer/ advisor for AGN team and other physicians  in dry eye disorders
o    Engage and develop minimum of 2 KOLs in each key geographic market  to be advocate/ trainer/ advisor for AGN team and other physicians  in glaucoma

Business Support and Development   
ü  Build and sustain enduring relationships with doctors  and key accounts  ü  Assist S&M team members and doctors in increasing awareness of diseases pertaining to Eye care
ü Develop / customize and circulate  technical updates regularly to all doctors and key accounts
ü Partner with S&M team members in identifying new doctors and physiotherapists locally as well as in the SAARC region
ü  Identify and support opportunities for Allergan to partner with doctors and other stakeholders working in institutions and the patient’s cost of treatment is subsidized or reimbursed.

Education & Relevant Experience
ü  MBBS/ MD
ü  PG Diploma in Ophthalmology preferred
ü  2-3 years of relevant pharma experience post MD
ü  Experience in pharmaceutical industry or corporate environment preferred

Knowledge
ü  Practical knowledge of clinical medical practice
ü  Expertise in applied functional anatomy / disease / treatment mechanisms pertaining to ophthalmology
ü  Knowledge of Code of Medical Ethics
ü  Medical terminology

Skills  
ü  Clinical etiquette; professional demeanor and credibility
ü  Computer literacy
ü  Strong presentation and teaching skills, and ability to share information with others
ü  Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively in English, written and verbal
ü  Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships; to lead, engage and influence
ü  Strong analytical skills, with ability to cover clinical data
ü  Ability to learn and convey clinical and non-clinical technical information effectively
ü  Strong team, leadership, planning skills and ability to work independently ü  Ability to work in a corporate / business environment
