RGCB-BioNest is facility managed by Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology and owned by the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA), Government of Kerala located in Kochi, Kerala. RGCB-BioNest has been created to nurture emerging biotech/life science start up ventures by providing incubator facilities and state of the art biotechnology instrumentation platforms to promote & develop new entrepreneurs as well as provide such instrumentation platforms for hospitals, colleges and universities to further their research programs in biotechnology, life sciences and biomedical sciences.

Post: Senior Program Leader – RGCB BIONEST

RGCB has set very challenging development goals in large-scale national projects involving the domain of Science & Society. BioNest is a facility managed by RGCB that serves:
- To nurture emerging biotech/life science start up ventures by providing incubator facilities and state of the art biotechnology instrumentation platforms to promote & develop new entrepreneurs as well as provide such biotechnology instrumentation platforms for hospitals, colleges and universities to further their research programs in biotechnology, life sciences and biomedical sciences (see list of facilities available)
- To assist new enterprises to forge appropriate links with other biotech/life science companies, academia and the government.
- To provide support and assistance in the accelerate the commercialization of new technologies

The Senior Project Leader will be responsible for leading development and execution of the BioNest, day-to-day management decisions, implementation of the BioNest’s long and short term plans under the guidance of a Scientific Management Board, acts as a direct liaison between RGCB, KINFRA and other funding and government agencies as well as interacting with industries, universities, colleges, hospitals and public sector bodies.

In this regard, the main role of the Senior Project Leader is to serve as the principal technical and program management lead for strategic implementation of these objectives. To achieve these goals in an innovative and cost-efficient manner, this position is needed to:
1. Provides advice and explains opportunities to potential users of the RGCB-BioNest including start up entrepreneurs
2. Establish, maintain coordination and collaboration among RGCB’s R&D, business development group and other stakeholders.
3. Provide focus and direction so the goals are met via innovative technologies/approaches rather than the more conventional end-of-pipe treatment approaches.
4. Benchmark, collaborate, and engage entities outside of RGCB.
5. Identify and develop creative and innovative solutions to problems of a conceptual nature, through exploration and synthesis of ideas, concepts, and existing technology.
6. Responsible for Program or Project Management including establishing project/program objectives as well as program planning, reviews and execution phases.
7. Initiates and leads substantial project both technically and commercially; identifies needs and recommends project approaches.
8. Collaborates on projects, reaching beyond assigned responsibilities, to assist others as necessary to achieve goals, encourages collaborative relationships within project team or work group

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND RELEVANT DETAILS
This position will be in the scientific cadre of RGCB. The grade at which the person will be placed depends on experience profile. The candidate is not expected to do any laboratory research and will be posted in the Institute Development Division of RGCB. Candidates working in the government sector will have to apply through proper channel and can be considered on deputation.
Essential qualifications
PhD in Life Sciences or Chemical Sciences.
A minimum of five years documented experience in handling translation of discovery science, experience of working in a similar organizations at an executive position related to liaising with industries/government organizations bioscience related technology development and transfer at national/international level

Desirable qualifications
1. Previous experience in the management of large national projects in the programs mentioned above.
2. Strong leadership and communication skills.
3. Proven track record in project management.

The upper age limit is 50 years as on March 2, 2015. However, applicants currently in Government service will have age relaxation as per Government of India rules.

The particular job grade will be dependent on experience level of the incumbent. In service applicants will be considered as per Government of India DoPT guidelines on deputation. The pay for the position will be given as given to RGCB – G.N Ramachandran Faculty Fellows/Scientific Consultants/Senior Scientific Consultants.
