The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) jointly administer the conduct of GATE. The operations related to GATE in each of the 8 zones are managed by a zonal GATE Office at the IITs or IISc. The Organizing Institute (OI) is responsible for the end-to-end process and coordination amongst the administering Institutes. The Organizing Institute for GATE 2015 is IIT Kanpur.

Admission to Postgraduate Courses (Master's and Doctoral) with MHRD and other Government Scholarships/ Assistantships in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science is open to those who qualify in GATE. GATE 2015 score will be valid for a period of THREE YEARS ONLY from the date of announcement of results.

Eligibility
The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear in GATE:
- Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Pharmacy (Post- Diploma / Post-B.Sc. / 4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final year of such programs.
- Candidates in the final year of the Four-year Bachelor's degree program in Science (B.S.) (Post-Diploma / 4 year after 10+2). ŸMaster's degree holders in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programs.
- Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree program (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering / Technology
- Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Fiveyear Integrated Master's degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering/ Technology.
- Candidates in the final year of Five-year integrated M.Sc. or Five year integrated B.S. M.S. program.
- Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE BY IE(I), AMICE(I) BY ICE(I)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

Examinations for all the papers including the submission of documents will be conducted in ONLINE mode only (Computer Based Test)

Application Fee
Candidates have to apply only ONLINE
Rs. 1500 for General / OBC male candidates
Rs. 750 for women candidates
Rs. 1500 for General / OBC other candidates
Rs. 750 for the SC / ST / PwD category candidates
The application fee has to be paid only online either through e-challan or through net Banking.

Basic Features of GATE 2015

  • Examinations for all the 22 papers will be conducted by an ONLINE Computer Based Test (CBT). The online examination paper will contain some questions for which numerical answers must be keyed in by the candidate using the virtual keypad. Rest of the questions shall be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type.
  • Biometric information (Photograph and Fingerprints) for randomly selected candidates may be captured before the start of the examination.
  • GATE 2015 examinations will be held during forenoon and afternoon sessions on alternate weekends (Saturday and Sunday) between 31st January 2015 and 14th February 2015. Examination for some of the papers in GATE 2015 will be held in multiple sessions. Exact details regarding complete examination schedule will be notified at a later date.
  • For GATE 2015 the entire process of filling up of application form, uploading of certificates/documents, etc., will be online and the candidates should not send any hard copy of their application form/documents, etc., to any of the IIT/IISc zonal GATE office.
  • The payment of application fees would be online through different modes like net banking, debit/credit card, e-challan, etc.
  • The admit cards for GATE 2015 would be available through the online process only. Candidates can download their admit card from GATE 2015 website. No hard copy of admit cards will be posted to the candidates.
  • GATE 2015 score is valid for THREE YEARS from the date of announcement of the results
