The V. Rangasamy Naidu Educational Trust devoted to the cause of promoting technical and scientific literacy, established CIT in 1956. CIT is one of the most reputed and prestigious educational institutions in South India since 1956. CIT, a government aided autonomous institution affiliated to Anna University, Chennai managed by a pedigreed lineage for the past 58 years, enjoys national repute. The Institute boasts of strong academic–industrial interaction and known for its high quality of research and consultancy. The institute is going to celebrate its Diamond Jubilee in the year 2016. CIT is identified as one of the beneficiary institutions under TEQIP (Phase II) – Sub Component 1.1 (Strengthening institutions to improve learning outcomes and employability of graduates).

About the Department of Library, CIT
The Department of Library, CIT functioning in the vast area of 11,300 sq.ft. The main objective of the CIT library is to provide information services and access to print and e-resources to support the scholarly and informational needs of the institute community. The fully automated library is well equipped with modern facilities and print / electronic resources The CIT library has been subscribing many on-line databases include Science Direct, IEEE, ASCE, ASME, Springer, Mc-Graw Hill’s AEL, J-Gate Plus, GREENR, ASTM, NPTEL etc. The library is also a member of N-LIST, DELNET and American Concrete Institute, USA for accessing electronic information resources and services.

About DRDO-Institute of Nuclear Medicine & Allied Sciences (INMAS)
At the instance of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, a RaDIATion Cell was established in 1956 at Defence Science Laboratory, Delhi. The scope of the work was enlarged and the cell upgraded to RaDIATion Medicine Division in 1959. As awareness increased, a full-fledged establishment was created in 1961 and named ‘Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS)’. It is engaged in research in the field of basic and applied medical sciences including development of Radioprotectors and treatment modalities for management of raDIATion emergencies, endocrinology, Biodosimetry, development of potential pharmaceuticals as contrast agents for nuclear medicine and magnetic resonance imaging and strategies for Chemical -Biological- Radiological and Nuclear defence besides futuristic research on neuro-cognetive disorders.

About Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science (SALIS)
SALIS is a registered professional body, actively involved in the development of all spheres of LIS by organizing various programs including conferences, seminars, lectures and workshops on emerging areas. It has many chapters across the country to provide services in the respective regions. One of the objectives of SALIS is to train the LIS professionals to handle the latest IT tools and techniques more effectively and efficiently and also to understand and adopt the best practices in order to provide high quality library and information services to the users.

About the Seminar
Researchers publish their research findings mainly in the form of articles / papers in scientific and technical journals. Scientific papers are considered as an important indicator to measure the research output / performance of an individual, institution and also a county. This indicator directly linked to the career of an individual researcher and also an institution for getting funds, recognition etc. ‘Publish or Perish’ is the order of the day. There are several tasks involved in the process of publication such as contents of scientific paper, referencing styles and tools, citation databases, publishing ethics and plagiarism, choosing right journal, Impact Factor and H Index etc. This two day national seminar provides a platform to the participants to discuss all the above said issues.

Objectives of the Seminar
- To understand the publishing process in science and technological journals
- To discuss Bibliometrics / Scientometrics and its role to motivate faculty and students to publish their research papers
- To understand citation analysis
- To demonstrate the use of citation database
- To discuss the issues related to plagiarism.

Target Audience
Faculty members from all disciplines, Research scholars, Librarians, LIS teachers and students. The number of seats is limited and the selection will be based on ‘first come first served’ basis.

Registration Fee: Rs.400/-
Fee includes seminar kit, course materials, working lunch and refreshments. The registration fee is to be paid through DD in favour of “The Principal, CIT” payable at “Coimbatore” and addressed to the “Organizing Secretary”.
