Columbia Institute of Pharmacy is promoted by Janpragati Education Society (JPES). It is managed by a duly constituted Governing body. The Pharmacy institute was established in 2004-05. The motto was to impart value based education in the field of pharmacy. Here efforts are made to craft such health care professionals who would provide exemplary services for the welfare of mankind. Columbia Institute of Pharmacy has a beautiful campus at Tekari (Near Mandhar Colony), 14 Km away from Raipur and 4 Km away from Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha. The institute has a glorious building with spacious class rooms. Our laboratories are well equipped with sophisticated instruments. The library houses more than 9000 books and number of national and international journals. The institute has a brilliant Medicinal Plants garden, CPCSEA approved Animal House. Our faculties are well qualified and experienced; they come from different parts of country and they are our prime asset.

About Seminar
“Health for all” is a dream and a goal which humanity at large shares and strives for. In last few decades, an exponential growth has been observed in the field of alternative medicine due to the fact that modem pharmaceuticals are and will remain out of reach for a large proportion of the human population for the foreseeable future. The annual turnover of the Indian herbal medicinal industry is about Rs. 2,300 crore as against the pharmaceutical industry's turnover of Rs. 14,500 erores with a growth rate of 15 percent. But unfortunately. India has not done well in this international trade of herbal industry due to lack of scientific input in herbal drugs & lack of proper standard parameters. This seminar will provide a common platform to the professionals across different genre to discuss various issues related to modernization of Indigenous Herbal formulations.

Objectives
Our main objectives behind seminar is to make aware the scientific masses about various aspects of the science & commercialization of indigenous herbal medication in modem times. This seminar aims to discuss the following issues:
•        Explore the importance oflndigenous formulations
•        Need for modernization of traditional formulations
•        Methods for modernization of traditional formulations
•        Explore safety, quality and efficacy of formulations
•        Discussion regarding herbal medicine & cosmetics

Call for Abstract
The Scientific committee invites all the PG & UG students. Researchers, Scholars, People involved in Herbal formulations to submit abstracts ofpapers to be considered for poster presentation. All the abstracts (Times New Roman, Font size 12, 250 words), specifying the presenting author by underlining the same, must be submitted through email to “seminarcolumbia@gmail.com" latest by 12TH March 2013.


Awards
All poster presented shall be eligible for the Best Poster Presentation award. The winners (03) will be judged by a panel of judges during the poster presentation sessions.
