About the Conference
Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being of an individual. The maintenance and promotion of health is achieved through combination of physical, mental, and social well-being attributes. Diseases are one of the major threats to human health. Therapeutic intervention is essentially required when the preventive approach for maintenance of health is not enough to achieve the desired goals. Discovery and development of new therapeutic agents has been a continuing process. In-spite of the fact that large number of therapeutic molecules are being added in human health care programmes, the thrust for safer and effective medicines is increasing. The toxic effects associated with purified molecules of synthetic origin necessitated the research on holistic and ethnophamacological approaches of drug discovery and development.
The conference focuses on the prospects of Ethnopharmacology & Biotechnology in providing holistic solutions to health care needs as well as the challenges associated with Ethnopharmacology & Biotechnology based drug development. Oral and poster presentation are invited on the following thrust areas:
* Ethnopharmacology in drug discovery and development
* Drug Research in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy and alternative systems
* Ayurgenomics in drugs discovery & development
* Biotechnology in drug discovery & development
Opportunities in herbal medicine research
* Documentation and validation of indigenous knowledge
* IP rights, patents and regulatory affairs of medicinal and aromatic plants (MAP)
* Herbal medicines from traditional knowledge to global commodities
* Integrative approach in healthcare - the future of medicine
