Department has animal house approved by CPCSEA. Department is actively involved in research encompassing Synthetic Chemistry, Natural Products’ Chemistry, Novel Drug Delivery System, Herbal Standardization and Formulations, besides Computer Aided Drug Design.

AICTE SPONSORED QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME
Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences has been organizing the Quality Improvement Programme for last six years. QIP 2013 would be seventh in this series.
QIP 2013 comprise of three programmes of two weeks duration each.
1.    Pharmacognosy & Pharmacology Division: Ethnopharmacology as discipline has build up its emancipation by improving new methodologies. Its legitimacy has been founded in the respect for traditional therapeutical knowledge and in the valorization of natural resources. The intellectual and methodological plurality of ethnopharmacology research poses a variety of theoretical and practical challenges including collection & identification of bio-resources, identification of targets and pharmacological mechanisms of bioactive natural products. Moreover, during this QIP emphasis will be given to the effectiveness of traditional medicines, particularly biological evaluation of natural compounds on the disease models such as Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular, Obesity, Inflammation, etc.

2.    Pharmaceutics Division would focus upon recent innovations in drug delivery in combating the bioavailability problems. The dramatic increase of poorly water soluble drug candidates have made it more intricate to guarantee the delivery of new chemical entities. This issue accentuates the need for novel and innovative drug delivery methods to combat the problems with solubility, stability and bioavailability. During the programme, emphasis will be on novel drug delivery system such as lipid & silk based delivery, liposomal delivery, macromolecular based delivery, co-crystal & co-amorphous drug delivery etc. which can tackle the need through discussions of the issues, opportunities, and latest innovations in the formulation and drug delivery space.

3.    Pharmaceutical Chemistry Division: The art of discovery and development of medicinal(s) has been systematized through various approaches of CADD. This program will provide a platform for sharing expertise on the important therapeutic areas such as anticancer, antiviral, metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative disorders etc. The program would cover most of the aspects of drug designing and discovery through series of lectures and practical hands on training sessions, which include introductory aspects of drug designing and discovery, structure and ligand based drug designing approaches, virtual screening, molecular modeling, combinatorial synthesis, drug development through high throughput techniques etc.
