NIAB, an autonomous institute under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is aimed to harness novel and emerging biotechnologies and create knowledge in the cutting edge areas for improving animal health and productivity. The Institute’s research focus is on animal genetics and genomics, transgenic technology, reproductive technology, diseases, nutritional enrichment, and bioinformatics. The Institute aims at translational research leading to genetic enhancement of Indian Livestock species and basic research towards development of novel vaccines, diagnostics and improved therapeutic molecules for farm animals.

Scientist-G – ONE post (Unreserved)
Pay Level : 14 per 7th CPC
Method of Recruitment : Deputation (ISTC)/Absorption failing which Direct recruitment
Recruitment on Deputation : Scientists or Technologists working in the Central or State Governments or Universities or recognized Research Institutions or Semi Government, Statutory or Autonomous Organizations in India or abroad
(a) (i) holding analogous posts on regular basis in the parent cadre or Department; or
(ii) with two years’ of service in the grade rendered after appointment thereto on regular basis in Level 13A or equivalent / with three years’ in Level 13 or equivalent; and
(b) Possessing the qualifications prescribed for direct recruits, as given below.
The Deputation period will be as per rules of Govt of India.
Essential Qualification for Direct Recruits : Ph.D. in Veterinary Sciences / Animal Sciences / Modern biology / Life Sciences or equivalent from a recognized University with 10 years of post Ph.D R&D experience in the advertised area with original work as evidenced by patents or publications in top ranked peer-reviewed journals; strong potential for securing and sustaining independent and collaborative extramural funding.
Job Description : The selected candidates are supposed to work on genetic and health improvement of Livestock using modern tools of biotechnology. In addition to own research programme, he/she is expected to provide support to other research projects at NIAB. The selected candidates are also expected to lead the HRD programme of the Institute. In addition, candidate has to attract extra-mural funding to establish and lead research programs.
Areas in which applications are invited : (i) Animal Nutrition (ii) Animal Transgenesis with modern tools of gene editing (iii) Drug / nutrient / vaccine delivery using nano particles / nanofibers etc

Pay Level : 13 A as per 7th CPC
Method of Recruitment : Deputation (ISTC)/Absorption failing which Direct recruitment
Recruitment on Deputation : Scientists or Technologists working in the Central or State Governments or Universities or recognized Research Institutions or Semi Government, Statutory or Autonomous Organizations in India or abroad (a) (i) holding analogous posts on regular basis in the parent cadre or Department; or (ii) with two years’ of service in the grade rendered after appointment thereto on regular basis in Level 13 or equivalent or six years’ of service in the grade rendered after appointment thereto on regular basis in Level 12 ; and (b) Possessing the qualifications prescribed for direct recruits, as given below. Scientist-B – ONE Posts (Unreserved)
Pay Level : Level-10 as per 7th CPC
Method of Recruitment :  Direct recruitment
Recruitment on Deputation : M.V.Sc / M.Sc / M.Tech or equivalent degree from a recognised university with outstanding academic record alongwith 3 years of relevant R & D experience in desired areas.
Essential Qualification for Direct Recruits : Ph.D. in Veterinary Sciences / Animal Sciences / Modern biology / Life Sciences or equivalent from a recognized University with 7 years of post Ph.D R&D experience in the advertised area with original work as evidenced by patents or publications in top ranked peer-reviewed journals; strong potential for securing and sustaining independent and collaborative extramural funding.
Job Description : The selected candidates are expected to work in the research projects at NIAB aimed at (I) livestock production / reproduction / developmental biology to address issues of infertility by employing a combination of traditional and modern biological approaches to create new knowledge and develop novel diagnostics and therapeutic tools for infertility in livestock and (ii) animal nutrition, efficient feed utilization etc. In addition, candidates are expected to help other scientists for basic research.

Published evidence of working in the specified area during or after Ph.D. (Publications in high quality journal will be given preference).

General Information and Conditions:
1. The positions will be filled up in one or more of the areas mentioned. Please mention subject area (specialization) on top right hand corner of the application under which application will be evaluated.
2. The number of positions is provisional and may vary at the time of selection.
3. The positions carry usual allowances as admissible to Central Government Employees of the same pay and status posted at Hyderabad. Higher initial start may be considered in deserving cases.
4. Appointment will be made initially on probation period of two years which may be extended at the discretion of the Competent Authority. Further continuation will depend on candidate’s performance during the initial period of probation
5. Designation of posts may change.
6. All applicants must fulfill the requirements of the post and other conditions stipulated in the advertisement as on the last date of the receipt of application. They are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess the qualifications laid down for various posts as on the last date of receipt of the application. No enquiry asking for advice as to eligibility will be entertained. The prescribed qualifications are the minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be shortlisted. The duly constituted Screening Committee may adopt its own criteria for shortlisting the candidates, based on number of applications received and functional requirements of the Institute. Decision of the Director, NIAB in this regard will be final and no correspondence or personal enquiries will be entertained by NIAB on this behalf. The candidates should therefore, mention in the application all the qualifications and experience in the relevant area over and above the prescribed qualifications. The period of experience in a discipline/area of work, wherever prescribed, shall be counted after the date of acquiring the minimum educational qualifications prescribed for that post.
7. Applications from employees working in Government Departments, Public Sector Undertakings and Government funded research agencies will be considered only if forwarded through proper channel and with a clear certificate that the applicant will be relieved within one month of the receipt of appointment order.
8. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence, political or otherwise will automatically disqualify the candidate for the post.
9. Reservations as per the Govt. of India norms in respect of SC / ST / OBC / PWD etc. will apply.
10. Age limits shall be reckoned as on the closing date for receipt of application. However, in case of exceptionally well qualified candidates the upper age limit may be relaxed by the Competent Authority.
11. The upper age limit is however, relaxable up to 05 years for SC/ST and 03 years for OBC as per the Government orders in force only in those cases where the posts are reserved for respective categories, on production of relevant certificates in the prescribed format signed by the specified authority at the time of interview. The OBC candidates should produce the prescribed certificate valid for employment under Central Government.
12. Reservation for persons with disability (PWD) will be considered in accordance to section 33 of Disabilities Act, 1995.
13. Experience for the position mentioned in the advertisement will be reckoned from the date of acquiring the qualification prescribed for the position.
14. Outstation unemployed SC/ST candidates who are called for interview, written/practical examination will only be paid second class train fare from the actual place of undertaking the journey or from the normal place of residence whichever is nearer to Hyderabad Railway Station on production of relevant document of travel. However, reservation and sleeper charges and surcharge on superfast trains will be admitted if requisite ticket/receipt etc. is submitted as proof of having actually incurred the expenses. In the absence of valid details in the TA Claim, the surcharges, etc. will not be allowed.
15. Incomplete applications and/or the applications received after the last date shall not be considered. NIAB takes no responsibility for any delay in receipt or loss in postal transit of any application or communication.
16. Interim enquiries will not be entertained.
