The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is a growing phenomenon. Located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, RGCB began in 1990 amongst humble surroundings as a small charitable society called the Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (C-DEST). In 1991, recognizing its potential, the C-DEST was made a “Grant-in-Aid” institute of the Government of Kerala and renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (RGC-DEST), becoming the first institute in the country to be named after Sri Rajiv Gandhi, the young illustrious and visionary former Prime Minster of India. On April 18, 1994 the Government of Kerala took a landmark decision to restructure the institute into a comprehensive biotechnology center and thus was created the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Senior Research Fellow in a DST funded research project entitled "Can Amalaki rasayana attenuate cardiac dysfunction associated with cardiac failure and aging?" in the laboratory of Dr. C C Kartha at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have secured first class in all their qualifying examinations. Masters Degree in Biological Sciences with two years research experience or professional degree such as MVSc, MD or MPharm is mandatory. Candidates need to have qualified CSIR/UGC-JRF or Lectureship, GATE, DBT-JRF or ICMR-JRF.

AGE: Below 35 years as on 7th November 2012

EMOLUMENTS:18,000/- + 20% HRA.

Duration:Three years or till termination of the project (whichever is earlier)

Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply and will be called for interview. In the event of more than 10 candidates being short-listed by screening the applications, a written test will be conducted before the selection interview.

Suitably qualified candidates may send applications in the prescribed format ( www.rgcb.res.in/downloads/adv.doc)with a copy of full resume and attested photocopies of credentials & experience to reach the undersigned on or before 16th November, 2012. The envelopes must be superscripted with abbreviated title of the project, the advertisement number and job title. Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project.
