Job Description:
Medical Editing is an up and coming niche field that requires both medicine/medical knowledge cum expertise and language skills. It is also one of the most sought after career streams by both medicine and allied health/medical professionals.
A brief description on what Academic Medical Editors do:
Editors doing editing serve the needs of three constituencies: the author(s), the publisher, and the readers. These parties share one basic desire: an error-free publication.
At Crimson, as an Academic Editor, science or Medicine, you will be dealing with radical papers encompassing a wide range of subject areas, right from clinical practices in general Medicine to specific imaging and surgical outcomes to interesting case reports, and much more, on a daily basis.
Medical expressions are complex enough without being presented in inaccurate language. To that end, you will act as the author's second pair of eyes, pointing out--and usually correcting--mechanical errors and inconsistencies; errors or infelicities of grammar, usage, and syntax; and errors or inconsistencies in medicine, bio science content. If you like alliterative mnemonic devices, you can conceive of an editor's chief concerns as comprising the '4 Cs'--clarity, coherency, consistency, and correctness--in service of the 'Cardinal C': communication.
