National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) was founded by Sir Robert McCarrison in the year 1918 as ‘Beri-Beri’ Enquiry Unit in a single room laboratory at the Pasteur Institute, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Within a short span of seven years, this unit blossomed into a "Deficiency Disease Enquiry" and later in 1928, emerged as full-fledged "Nutrition Research Laboratories" (NRL) with Dr. McCarrison as its first Director. It was shifted to Hyderabad in 1958.

Essential qualification: 1 st Class M.Sc., in Life Sciences from recognized University with a minimum of 2 years research experience in relevant field
Desirable: Experience in Fluoride Research
Age: 35 years, Relaxation in case of SC/ST/OBC/PH/ candidates as per G.O.I. Rules.
Stipend: Rs.18,000/ - p.m. (Fixed) + 30% HRA on it.
Tenure: only for one year.
A person who has availed 5 years of tenure/service as JRF and SRF (i.e. 2 years as JRF + 3 years as SRF) under ICMR /UGC/CSIR/DST/DBT/ICAR’s grants are not eligible to apply for this Fellowship.
The candidates should bring all original certificates of educational qualifications, experience and caste along with a set of photo copie s of the same and a latest passport size photo, while attending the Walk - in - Interview/Written Test. No TA/DA will be paid for this Purpose.
General Conditions: ICMR/NIN Fellowship Rules are applicable for the above SRF. The selected candidate will hav e no right to claim for any regular employment at this Institute. The Director has the right to accept/reject any application without assigning any reason and no correspondence in this matter will be entertained.
