It is very essential for any country to tighten its patent rules and give equal opportunity to multinational companies to do fair business. Sadly India is getting wrong epithets owing to its Patents Act which is prohibiting granting of patents to some formulations and molecules citing various reasons and points in court of law. Editorial of this issue highlights some recent problems and patent wars.

Present issue included with reviews like nateglinide in the management of type 2 diabetes, stability indicating assay methods, stability guidelines by ICH and USFDA guidelines for new formulation and dosage form, cervical cancer and its various emerging impact, development of orphan drug for rare disease, resealed erythrocytes, DNA microsatellites, mini-stroke (TIA), on immediate release drug delivery systems, potential activities of benzimidazole derivatives, anti-cancer, biological properties, phytochemistry and traditional uses of rudravanti, atherosclerosis, oral controlled release drug delivery system and overview of quinazolines and quinoxalines.

Researches like comparative evaluation of purification methods for production of polypeptide antibiotics, rapid and selective UV spectrophoto- metric and RP-HPLC methods for dissolution studies of ivabradine, in vitro evaluation of antacid potential of curcuma longa, evaluation of the synergic antiproliferative and cytostatic effects of ananas comosus, citrallus lanatus and citrus sinensis juice, evaluation of anti-depressant activity of hydro alcoholic extract of triticum aestivum are also included.
