APRIL 2015

Budget 2015 is showing promising impact towards public interest rather than industries. Total Rs. 33,150 crore budgets allotted for healthcare sector which is slightly higher than last years-Rs 30,645 crore. As in budget, opening of five AIIMS and one AIIMS like institute are announced in country which again boost public health segment.

There might be more expectation from budget by pharma and lifescience industries. And because of that it became little disappointment for them when budget announced. There are so many industrial issues being untouched like service tax imposed on CROs, government’s active partnership in research & development etc.

Apart from budget, an important news came from IT fraternity which affect healthcare research area on little or more extent. Apple launched Research Kit in this month. IT giants like Google and Apple are slowly extending far down in lifescience segment. And there will no surprise if Facebook take a healthcare leap in future. One of our prominent author and editorial member Amit Gangwal wrote on this 8 months back that Smart phone and Search Engine giants are gearing up to sweep the diagnostic market.
