National Institute of Immunology announces Life Sciences Fellowship

The National Institute of Immunology (NII) is committed to advanced research with a view to understand body's defense mechanisms for developing modalities of immune system manipulation that can intervene with disease processes. The institute’s research thrust areas under immunology and related disciplines cluster in four main themes, namely, infection and immunity, molecular design, gene regulation and reproduction and development, where cutting edge research in modern biology is being carried out employing multiple overlapping disciplines of biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and structural biology.

Applications are invited for the one position of Junior Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow (Project) for the following time-bound sponsored project as per the details given below

Name of the Project : ““Understanding the interactions of p53, insulin-IGF-signaling and FOXO in development, germ cell proliferation, stress and cancer” funded by DBT Tenable till – 11.06.2027

Educational Qualifications :
JRF : M.Sc. or M.Tech. in any area of Life Sciences with good academic record. M.Sc. candidates must have cleared any National Level Eligibility Test (NET/GATE etc).
SRF: Must have at least 2 years of research experience in laboratory settings and must have cleared any National Level Eligibility Test (NET/GATE etc).
JRF candidates MUST have undertaken a minimum of 6 months dissertation project during MSc. This should be clearly stated in their CV, along with a brief description of the work they did and the techniques used.
Candidates who have previously worked as a PA/JRF, etc., MUST provide a brief description of the work done, along with the techniques used.

Job Description : The project involves cell culture and molecular biology experiments.
Hands-on experience in cell culture (maintenance, transfection, transduction) and molecular biology (particularly RNA isolation, quantitative real-time PCR, and western blotting), as well as microbiology, is REQUIRED. Candidates with data analytics skills, like RNA-seq and metabolomics analysis, will be preferred.

Emoluments : The selected candidates will draw consolidated emoluments as per Institute Rules, depending upon qualifications & experience
SRF: Rs. 42,000/- per month plus 27% HRA
JRF: Rs. 37,000/- per month plus 27% HRA (As per DST OM dated 26.06.2023)

General Terms & Conditions
1. The candidates selected for the above posts will be on contract for one year or duration of the project whichever is shorter, at a time.
2. No hostel/ housing facility will be provided.
3. Applicants may clearly mention the category they belong to i.e. SC/ST/OBC/PH and attach documentary proof of the same.
4. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview, if called for.
