IISER invites applications from JRF / Project Associate

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati is a premier autonomous Institution established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, for promotion of high-quality science education and research in the country.

The institute invites applications from Indian nationals for the following position Purely on a contract basis.

Post : Junior Research Fellow / Project Associate-I

Name of the project : Development of bio-molecular films for characterization of UV-induced Macromolecular Damage in space environment.
Funding Agency : ISRO- Laboratory for Electro-Optics Systems (LEOS)

Minimum qualifications
Essential: Master's degree in Biology, Physics, or a related field.
Desirable : Prior experience with Practical experience in basic molecular and cellular biology techniques, such as :
• PCR, cloning, qRT-PCR
• Working with model organisms (Drosophila)
Fellowship
I. Rs. 37,000/- + 10% HRA to Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests-CSIR/UGC-NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship), GATE or National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions.
II. Rs. 30,000/- + 10% HRA for others who do not fall under (I) above

Age : Not more than 30 years on the closing date of the advertisement.

Tenure : The initial offer will be for one year and renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
The position is temporary and co- terminus with the project.

GENERAL INFORMATION
1. The appointment is purely temporary and will terminate automatically without any notice or compensation on the termination of the research project.
2. The appointed person shall have no claim of appointment/absorption in the Funding Agency or in IISER Tirupati.
3. Appointment of the applicant will be governed by the terms and conditions of the funding agency, particularly applicable to the said project.
4. The qualification prescribed should have been obtained from recognized Universities / Institutions.
5. Candidates should ensure that they have educational qualifications from recognized University/Institute and requisite experience, if any as on the closing date for submission of application. Those awaiting results of the final examination for the prescribed educational qualification are not eligible and hence should not apply.
6. The prescribed educational qualifications are the bare minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for an interview. Where the number of applications received in response to this advertisement is large, it will not be convenient or possible to interview all the candidates. Based on the recommendations of the Screening Committee, the Project Leader may restrict the number of candidates for the interview to a reasonable limit after taking into consideration the qualifications and experience over and above the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. Therefore, it will be in the interest of the candidates, to mention all the qualifications and experience in the relevant field at the time of applying.

7. No TA/DA will be admissible for appearing for the interview.
8. The number of posts indicated may increase or decrease as per the Institute requirement.
9. Selected candidates will have to join duty immediately on receipt of the offer. 10. No interim enquiries/ correspondence/ communication of any sort will be entertained on the matter.
11. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing any influence, political, or otherwise, will be treated as a disqualification for the post applied for.
12. Candidates selected for this position can also apply for the regular PhD program of IISER Tirupati, provided they satisfy the eligibility criteria.
