IIIM invites applications from Pharmacognosy, Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry candidates

CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu, is a premier Institute working under the aegis of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), an autonomous body under the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.

This Institute invites applications from eligible, interested and highly motivated candidates for the following project-based position, purely on a temporary basis, under the Ministry of Earth Science(MoES), Govt. of India, New Delhi, funded project No. GAP-3180 entitled “Towards the discovery and development of novel drugs and pharmaceuticals” tenable at CSIR-IIIM, Jammu

Post : Project Associate-I [One Position]

Essential Qualification : M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry or / M. Pharm / M. S in Natural Products / Medicinal Chemistry / Pharmacognosy or equivalent from a recognized University/Institute.

Desirable Qualification : 1. Research experience in Extraction & Isolation techniques (Chromatography purification, HPLC, etc) and characterization Techniques (IR, MS, HR-MS, NMR, etc.) of natural products 2. Related publications, if any

Upper Age Limit : 35 years

Stipend (per month in ₹) : i) 31,000/- a + HRA** OR ii) 25,000/- b +HRA** (as applicable)

(a) For those candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC / ICAR / ICMR NET incl. Lecturership/Assistant Professorship or GATE OR those who have qualified National Level Examinations conducted by Central Government Departments like DBT/DST or equivalent and/or their Agencies/ Institutions.
(b) For those who do not fall under (a) above.
**HRA will be paid only if Institutional accommodation is not availed/ provided.

Mode of Selection : Selection is to be done on the basis of Interview; however, if a large number of candidates apply, the Screening Committee may revisit the Screening criteria, if required.

Date of walk in Interview : 15th September, 2026 (Tuesday)
Reporting Time : 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM*
*Candidates reporting for the interview after 10:00 AM will not be allowed to appear for the interview.
Note : The candidates are required to bring the duly filled Annexure-I, at the time of interview.

General Terms, Conditions & Instructions :
1) The current duration of the project is up to 26.02.2027.
2) The tenure of engagement shall be co-terminus with the project. However, under no circumstances shall the total tenure exceed six years, including engagement in all CSIR labs. Performance will be reviewed periodically and unsatisfactory performance may lead to termination without any notice or reason.
3) The position(s) are purely temporary and are on behalf of the sponsor and, therefore, not confer any right on the incumbent(s) to any claim, implicit or explicit, for absorption on any post in CSIR-IIIM/CSIR.
4) Candidates will have the option to interact in English/Hindi before the Selection Committee.
5) Relaxation in age limit will be given as per Govt. of India Rules. Age will be reckoned as on the of Interview.
6) Upon selection/empanelment, the original documents, including eligibility qualification, DOB, caste, and age relaxation certificate, will be verified; if any discrepancy is found, the selection/empanelment shall stand cancelled.
7) The number of positions may vary depending upon the project requirements at the time of Interview.

8) The Director, CSIR-IIIM reserves the right to not to fill any or all advertised positions.
9) Canvassing in any form will be treated as disqualification for the positions.
10) Candidates currently engaged in any project at CSIR-IIIM must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) before applying for any new vacancy. Applications/ candidature/ selection of such candidates will only be considered if the NOC has been issued by the office.
11) Interim enquiries will not be entertained.
12) All applicants must fulfil the essential qualification and other conditions stipulated in the advertisement as on the date of Interview. They are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess at least the essential qualifications laid down as on the date of Interview.
13) No TA/DA shall be paid for attending the interview.
