ICMR invites applications from Life Sciences Graduates

The Indian Council of Medical Research invites applications from eligible candidates for engagement of one Young Professional-I (Basic Sciences) and one Young Professional-II (Information Technology) on a temporary contractual basis for the ICMR TB Research Accelerator program under the Division of Communicable Diseases, ICMR Headquarters, New Delhi. The positions will support scientific program management, proposal and project monitoring, research data systems, digital dashboards, and analytical work under the TB Research Accelerator Program.

The engagement will be governed by the ICMR Guidelines for Hiring Young Professionals circulated vide O.M. No. 16/84/2023-Admn.II/e-171470 dated 08.05.2026, as amended from time to time. The position-wise eligibility criteria and terms of reference are given below.

Maximum age : 30 years as on the last date for receipt of applications. Age relaxation will be as per rules.
Consolidated emoluments : Rs. 35,000/- per month. No House Rent Allowance will be paid.

Essential qualification : Graduate degree in Life Sciences or an allied basic-science discipline relevant to biomedical research from a recognized university or institution.
Eligible disciplines may include Biology, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Pharmacology, Biotechnology, Immunology, Toxicology, Virology, Nutrition, Entomology, or another relevant life-science discipline.

Desirable qualifications and experience :
• Postgraduate qualification in a relevant life-science or biomedical discipline.
• At least one year of relevant experience in biomedical, laboratory, public-health, clinical, or health-research work.
• Experience in literature searching, scientific evidence synthesis, data extraction, research documentation, and preparation of technical reports or presentations.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, scientific databases, and reference-management software.
• Experience in tuberculosis, infectious-disease, or communicable-disease research, including coordination of investigators, expert committees, review meetings, or multicentre projects, will be an advantage.

Scope of work and nature of duties
• Provide scientific and technical support for the appraisal, initiation, implementation, monitoring, and documentation of research proposals and projects under the ICMR TB Research Accelerator.
• Conduct literature searches on tuberculosis and related areas and prepare evidence summaries, data-extraction tables, scientific briefs, presentations, and background notes.
• Maintain proposal and project trackers; compile and verify information on objectives, milestones, timelines, deliverables, budgets, and progress reports.
• Support preparation of agendas, minutes, expert-committee documents, reviewer records, technical correspondence, and action-taken reports.
• Coordinate with principal investigators, institutions, subject experts, ICMR institutes, and internal divisions for timely submission and review of project documents.
• Assist with basic data cleaning, descriptive summaries, quality checks, program- monitoring outputs, and secure maintenance of research records and documents.
• Perform any other scientific or program-related work for the TB Research Accelerator assigned by the competent authority.

Period of engagement : Initially for one year, extendable for two more years, one year at a time, subject to organizational requirement and satisfactory performance. The total engagement will not exceed three years.

Terms and Conditions
1. Both positions are temporary and contractual. Engagement does not confer any right to regular appointment, absorption, or continuation in ICMR or any Government organization.
2. The upper age limit, educational qualifications, and post-qualification experience will be determined as on the last date for receipt of applications. Age relaxation will be admissible as per applicable rules.
3. All educational qualifications must be from a recognized board, university, or institution. Experience will be counted only after completion of the minimum essential qualification.
4. The initial engagement will be for one year and may be extended for up to two additional years, one year at a time, subject to organizational requirement and satisfactory performance. The total engagement will not exceed three years.
5. The stated remuneration is consolidated. No House Rent Allowance will be paid. Applicable taxes will be deducted at source as per rules.
6. Mere fulfilment of the essential qualifications and experience does not guarantee shortlisting or selection. ICMR may apply appropriate shortlisting criteria based on the number and quality of applications received.
7. If required, a written test, skill test, or assignment may be conducted before the interview. Candidates must meet the prescribed qualification, experience, and age criteria and complete document verification to participate in the selection process.
8. Incomplete, unsigned, late, or unsupported applications, and applications not submitted in the prescribed manner, may be rejected without further correspondence.
9. Submission of incorrect, false, or suppressed information at any stage will disqualify the candidature and may lead to termination if detected after engagement.
10. No travelling allowance or daily allowance will be paid for attending a written test, skill test, interview, personal discussion, or document verification.

11. The competent authority reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of positions, modify the selection process, reject any or all applications, or cancel or withdraw the notification without assigning any reason.
12. Canvassing or bringing political or outside influence in any form will disqualify the candidate.
13. The selected candidates will be required to comply with ICMR rules on conduct, confidentiality, information security, conflict of interest, intellectual property, and protection of research and personal data, and may be required to sign relevant undertakings or a non-disclosure agreement.
