The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), established in 1983, is an international, intergovernmental organisation conceived as a Centre of excellence for research, training and technology transfer to industry in the field of biotechnology to promote sustainable global development. The Centre conducts innovative research in life sciences and strengthens the research capability of its over 60 Member States through training, funding programs and advisory services.
Open Post-Doctoral fellowship on external funds available in Dr. Braga’s Functional Cell Biology Laboratory at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) in Trieste, Italy.
Seeking for highly motivated post-doctoral researchers interested in working in a stimulating research environment, and leading ambitious projects aiming to discover new LNPs formulation developed to efficiently target alveolar Epithelial Type II cells (ATII). The final aim to the project is to find alternatives non-viral delivery system to effectively deliver RNA-based therapeutics to ATII cells. The position is funded on the grant “Booster For life Science- Sostegno a progetti di validazione di idee e tecnologie innovative che prevedano il raggiungimento di un TRL 6,7 o 8” within the context of the project titled miRalvergen.
Functional Cell Biology group (icgeb.org/functional-cell-biology/) operates in an international and multidisciplinary working environment encompassing biologists, biotechnologists and medical doctors with state-of-the-art research facilities in the field of Drug discovery (icgeb.org/high-throughput-screening-equipment/). The candidate will be offered a 12-month position starting 1st October 2025, with a salary of 28-32.000 euro per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. An extension for additional 12 months will be subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.
She/he must hold :
• a succesfull PhD degree in molecular biomedicine, biology, chemistry, pharmacology or in a related field of the life sciences;
• a strong background in lipid nanoparticles technology;
• extensive hands-on experience in cellular and molecular biology techniques;
• previous experience in fluorescent microscopy and automated quantitative image analysis;
• proficiency in English, communication skills, team-work attitude and a strong motivation. Additional assets:
• prior experience conducting research in the field of lung biology, including preclinical mouse model of lung diseases;
• certificated participation to courses related to animal welfare, regulations, management and husbandry is is highly desirable (according to Decreto Ministeriale del 5 agosto 2021, publihsed on Gazzetta Ufficiale n. 228 on the 23 of September 2021);
