BRIC-CDFD, an Institute of the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, invites applications from Indian nationals for the following purely temporary vacancies in research projects funded by National / International agencies at BRIC-CDFD.
The description of the positions and qualifications for various vacancies are as follows
Senior Research Fellow (SRF) One post
Project Code : BRIC- CDFD/P-329/SRF/1
Project : Development and validation of a high-throughput genome-wide SNP array for Sugarcane (Saccharum spp) (funded by Dept. of Biotechnology)
PI : Dr. Ajay Kumar Mahato
Age : 35 Years
Monthly consolidated emoluments : Rs. 42,000/- + 30% HRA
Essential qualifications : Master’s degree in Bioinfomatics, Computational Biology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Genomics, Computer Science, or any allied discipline as per DST/DBT/ICMR norms for Senior Research Fellow, and two years of work experience.
Desirable qualifications : Experience in bioinformatics analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) and whole- genome resequencing (WGS) data from plant genomes, including quality control, read mapping, SNP/Indel discovery, filtering and annotation using standard bioinformatics tools (e.g. FastQC/Fastp, BWA- MEM, SAMtools, BCFtools, GATK, FreeBayes, SnpEff/VEP). Candidates should have experience in plant and population genomics, including analysis of complex/polyploidy genomes, genetic diversity, PCA, linkage disequilibrium and population structure, with proficiency in Linux/Unix, HPC environments and workflow management systems such as Snakemake or Nextflow being desirable.
Research Associate (RA) - I One post
Project Code : BRIC- CDFD/P-322/RA-I/1
Project : Phosphatase connections with Wnt signaling and their role in human cancers (funded by Dept. of Biotechnology)
PI : Dr. M V Subba Reddy
Age : 40 Years
Monthly consolidated emoluments : Rs. 58,000/- + 27% HRA
Essential qualifications : PhD/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree, or having 3 years’ experience of research, teaching and design and development experience after MVSc/ME/M.Tech, with at least one research paper in a Science Indexed (SCI) Journal.
Desirable qualifications : The candidate must have proven experience in handling biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology experiments along with animal experience with small animal models (e.g., mice or rats) for in vivo validation of in vitro cellular findings. The candidate must have at least one (and preferably more) first-author research paper in reputed journals.
Research Associate (RA) - I One post
Project Code : BRIC-CDFD/P- 294/RA-I/1
Project : Impact of DNA topology and its structural alterations on genome organisation and their manipulation as a biomaker and a target for cancer (funded by DBT / Wellcome Trust India Alliance)
PI : Dr. Yathish Jagadheesh Achar
Age : 40 Years
Monthly consolidated emoluments : Rs. 47,000/- + 24% HRA
Essential qualifications : PhD/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree or having 3 years’ experience of research, teaching and design and development experience after MVSc/ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper in a Science Indexed (SCI) Journal
Desirable qualifications : Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or a related field, with experience in NGS data analysis. Strong hands-on experience in analysing Hi-C, ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, and other genomic/epigenomic datasets; experience with DNA topology/supercoiling datasets will be an advantage. Proficiency in R and Python, with experience in statistical analysis, genomic data processing, visualization, and development/adaptation of bioinformatics pipelines. Knowledge of 3D genome organization, including TADs, chromatin compartments, chromatin interactions, and integration of Hi-C with other genomic datasets, is desirable. Familiarity with Linux/Unix, shell scripting, HPC environments, and commonly used bioinformatics tools and databases. Ability to perform multi-omics data integration and interpret computational results in the context of genome organization, gene regulation, and cancer biology. Strong analytical, scientific writing, and data visualization skills, with the ability to work independently.
General Terms and Conditions
1. The vacancy against the position shall be filled based on the vacancies available at the time of selection. If more vacancies with identical job requirements become available within one year after the selection, these can also be filled from among the candidates who are empaneled for the above position.
2. Selection against the position will not make the candidates with Master’s Degree, eligible to register for the Ph.D. degree.
3. This position is purely temporary and is initially for a period of six months. This position could be extended/terminated depending on the continuation of the project.
4. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped/Ex-service person/EWS applicants will be as per Govt. of India rules.
5. Relaxation of age for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped/Ex-service person/ Women applicants will be as per Govt. of India rules.
6. Any of the selected individual may from time to time be assigned to perform any other duties commensurate with their qualifications, by the Director, BIRC-CDFD.
7. The Director, CDFD reserves the right to suitably change/relax any of the above conditions, and the right to accept or reject any application without assigning any reason.
