Established in 1954, CSIR–Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSIR-CSMCRI), Bhavnagar, is a premier multidisciplinary national laboratory under Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The institute is internationally recognized for research in salt and marine chemicals, advanced materials, catalysis, membrane technology, desalination, renewable energy, environmental sustainability, marine biotechnology, and specialty chemicals, with strong emphasis on industrial innovation and societal applications.

Applications are invited for the recruitment of Project scientist – 1 (PS-1) one post and Project Assosciate- 1 (6 posts ) for the DBT project titled “FCO-Compliant Production Framework for Seaweed Biostimulants:Analytical Validation, Omics Integration, and Shelf-Life Enhancement for Industry Competitiveness - [ BT/PR64967/MRNAR/169/41/2026 ]” with Project No: GAP2205 with details as below

Project Scientist -1 (PS-1)– one post

Essential Qualification : Doctoral degree in Biological Sciences/Agricultural Sciences or Masters/Intergrated masters in Engineering and Technology from a recognized university or equivalent and 4 years experience in R&D in industrial and academic institutions or S&T organizations and scientific activities and services
Desirable : Candidates having research experience in plant/agricultural sciences with experience in bioinformatics/molecular biology would be preferred.
Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 56,000/- + HRA
Job description : To develpope new method of analysis for FCO compliant biostimulant markers. Assist in development of new biostimulant formulations and study effect of various bioactive molecules in soil and plant health.

Project Associate-I

Essential Qualification : M.Sc. in Chemistry / Chemical Sciences from a recognized university
Desirable : Candidates having research experience in the area of carbohydrate chemistry/ polysaccharides will be preferred.
Monthly Emoluments : (a) Rs. 31,000/- + HRA for those candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET incl. lecturership/assistant professorship or GATE or those who have qualified National level examinations conducted by central government departments like DBT, DST or equivalent and/or their agencies/institutions; (b) Rs. 25,000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (a) above
Job description : The candidate is supposed to work on removal of interfering compounds during seaweed polysaccharide characterization, development of new FCO compliant formulations.

Job description : The project involves an integrated computational and experimental approach. The candidates having expertise in biochemical (biomaterials characterization) techniques and computer simulation will be preferred.

Job description : The candidate is supposed to work on development and characterization of FCO compliant seaweed formulations, their characterization, efficacy evaluation through omics approach.

Age limit : 35 years as on the last date of receiving applications (age relaxation as per CSIR rule).

The decision of Director, CSIR-CSMCRI in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications, mode of selection, conduct of interview, cancellation of advertisement etc. will be final and binding on the candidates and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained in this connection from any individual or person or agency.
2. Therefore, candidates are advised to keep visiting regularly the website of CSIR-CSMCRI.
3. The number of vacancies is provisional and may vary. The Director, CSIR-CSMCRI reserves the right to cancel all or part of the advertised vacancies at any stage of recruitment process without giving any reason thereof.
4. Age relaxation for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Women categories shall be as per Government of India/CSIR instructions issued from time to time.
5. If it is found at any stage of the process or thereafter that the candidate does not fulfill the eligibility criteria their candidature shall be cancelled without assigning any reason whatsoever.
6. Experience certificates must clearly indicate the duration of experience, place of work, and position held. Contractual work experience will not be considered as part of experience.
7. In the absence of Degree Certificate, Provisional degree certificates along with the mark sheets pertaining to the degree may be considered. However, in this case, request letter/email to university for providing degree certificate may be enclosed and degree certificate shouldbeproduced immediately after it is received from the University/Institute.

Applications received by e-mail will be scrutinized based on candidate's academic background with a certain criteria and shortlisted candidates as eligible as per the criteria will be asked to attend the interview on a later date. The details of the interview will be sent to shortlisted candidates by e-mail only. These positions are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The engagement of a project staff in different projects either in the CSIR - Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute, Bhavnagar or different Lab./Instt. of CSIR taken together shall not exceed 06 years in any case. It would, therefore, not confer any right/claim implicit or explicit for any candidate for claiming extension or absorption in CSIR-CSMCRI, Bhavnagar.
