The National Institute of Immunology (NII) is committed to advanced research with a view to understand body's defense mechanisms for developing modalities of immune system manipulation that can intervene with disease processes. The institute’s research thrust areas under immunology and related disciplines cluster in four main themes, namely, infection and immunity, molecular design, gene regulation and reproduction and development, where cutting edge research in modern biology is being carried out employing multiple overlapping disciplines of biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and structural biology.

Post : Junior Research Fellow (Project) / Project Associate-I

Applications are invited for the position of Junior Research Fellow (Project) / Project Associate-I for the following time-bound sponsored project as per the details given below

Name of the Project : “Whole Genome Sequencing of MTB Clinical Strains for Determining Drug Resistance and Strain Lineage in India: A structured Nationwide approach” funded by DBT Tenable till 05.10.2026

Educational Qualifications : Master’s degree in any branch of Life Sciences from a recognised university with a first class. The candidate must have qualified for at least one national-level examination after the Master’s degree. 
Experience in molecular biology techniques including qRT-PCR, westerns will be preferable.

Job Description : To perform molecular biology experiments.


Emoluments : The selected candidates will draw consolidated emoluments as per Institute Rules, depending upon qualifications & experience : 
Rs. 37,000/- per month plus 27% HRA, if qualified NET / GATE otherwise 
Rs. 25,000/- per month plus 27% HRA (As per DST OM dated 26.06.2023/10.07.2020)

General Terms & Conditions : 
1. The candidates selected for the above posts will be on contract for one year or duration of the project whichever is shorter, at a time. 
2. No hostel/ housing facility will be provided. 
3. Applicants may clearly mention the category they belong to i.e. SC/ST/OBC/PH and attach documentary proof of the same. 
4. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview, if called for. 
5. Apart from sending application in the prescribed format given below, candidates should send complete Curriculum Vitae along with the names of three referees. Curriculum Vitae should contain details of the experimental expertise and list of publications. 6. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification. 
7. The Interviews will be held in offline/online mode.
