The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is a growing phenomenon. Located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, RGCB began in 1990 amongst humble surroundings as a small charitable society called the Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (C-DEST). In 1991, recognizing its potential, the C-DEST was made a "Grant-in-Aid" institute of the Government of Kerala and renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (RGC-DEST), becoming the first institute in the country to be named after Sri Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minster of India.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Research Associate in a DBT funded research project entitled 'Delineation and characterization of defense signalling pathways and genetic regulation of induced systemic resistance in Zingiber-Pythium pathosystems' under the supervision of Dr. George Thomas at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.

Essential Qualifications
• Doctorate in Life Sciences.
• Hands-on experience with documented proof in any of the following areas: plant pathology and histopathology techniques/gene silencing in plants by VIGS method/high-end computation of large genomics data/metabolomics/ proteomics.

Age : Below 35 years as on 17th October, 2018. Age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India norms.

Emoluments : Rs. 38,000 + 20% HRA per month.

Duration : Three years or till termination of the project whichever is earlier. However, the selected candidates will be assessed yearly by a review committee and poor performance can lead to discontinuation of the appointment.

Selection Process 
Suitably qualified candidates may send applications in the prescribed format with a photograph, a copy of full resume indicating the percentage of Marks obtained and attested photocopies of credentials & experience to reach the undersigned on or before 17th October, 2018. Envelopes must be superscripted with abbreviated title of the project, advertisement number and job title. Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project. 

Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply. Selection of suitable candidates will be made based on qualifications and performance in the selection interview. 

No TA/DA/Other emoluments will be given for appearing in the written test/interview.
