Openings for M.Pharm, M.S Pharm, MSc, MTech under Ministry of Science and Technology

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is the first national level institute in pharmaceutical sciences with a proclaimed objective of becoming a centre of excellence for advanced studies and research in pharmaceutical sciences. The Government of India has declared NIPER as an 'Institute of National Importance'. It is an autonomous body set up under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. The Institute is conceived to provide leadership in pharmaceutical sciences and related areas not only within the country, but also to the countries in South East Asia, South Asia and Africa. NIPER is a member of Association of Indian Universities and Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Post : Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Applications are invited from eligible Indian nationals for one position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a project entitled “Lignin valorization via biomaterial development, depolymerisation and green technology” sponsored by Department of Biotechnology Ministry of Science and Technology, (Govt. of India), New Delhi [GP-479] under Prof. Abhay H. Pande, Department of Biotechnology, NIPER-SAS Nagar. The position is purely on a temporary basis for a period of 03 months.

Essential Qualifications : M. Sc. In Biochemistry / Microbiology / Biotechnology OR M.S. (Pharm.) / M. Pharm / M.Tech. in Biotechnology. Minimum CGPA of 6.75 (or 60% marks) for General category/OBC, 6.25 (or 55% marks) for SC/ST, 5.75 (or 50% marks for physically handicapped (PH) candidates on a 10-point scale in the qualifying examination. and NET / GATE / CSIR / UGC / ICMR / DBT or any other relevant/equivalent nature of test qualified.
Desired Qualifications : Hands-on experience in protein expression from prokaryotic/eukaryotic cells, protein purification, ELISA, SPR, cellular assays, and basic molecular biology techniques, etc.

Age limit : Below 28 years as on the date of Walk-in-Interview i.e. on 23.12.2025.

Fellowship : Rs. 37,000/-p.m. + (HRA as admissible or Hostel facility, if available).

Tenure of the position : The position is purely on a temporary basis initially for a period 03 months and is co-terminus with the duration of the project.

The application fee as detailed below is required to be submitted at the time of the interview in the form of a Demand Draft in favour of ‘Director, NIPER-SAS Nagar’ payable at SAS Nagar (Mohali)/Chandigarh :
i. Application fee for General and OBC category candidates : Rs. 500/-
ii. Application fee for SC/ST/PWD/female candidates : NIL
Application fees in other forms will not be accepted.

• Candidates shall have to produce original documents/testimonials at the time of the interview, failing which, such candidates shall not be allowed for interview. The original certificates/degrees etc. of the candidate(s) are subject to verification before joining, in case of selection.
• Candidates with incomplete application or without relevant supporting enclosures (i.e. self-attested copies of degree/certificates/marks sheets/experience certificate/reprint of important publications, without photographs, signatures, and prescribed fee) will not be interviewed.
• Age relaxation for SC / ST / OBC / PWD etc. will be as per the Government of India rules. The candidates are required to attach valid proof for claiming relaxation as per the guidelines prescribed by the Government of India from time to time.
• Mere possession of essential/desirable qualifications and experience does not guarantee selection for the post. Candidate will be selected on merit and need of the project basis.
• In exceptionally meritorious cases or under special circumstances, the eligibility requirements of age, educational qualification, and experience for the position may be relaxed.
• The process of selection may include a presentation/interview or any other process as decided by the Competent Authority.
• The Institute reserves the right to withdraw the advertised post at any time without assigning any reason. Institute also reserves the right to fill or not to fill post and its decision in this regard shall be final.
• No TA/DA will be paid for attending the walk-in interview.

The candidate(s) who fulfil the eligibility criteria may appear for a walk-in-interview along with the application form to be held on 23rd December, 2025 (Tuesday) from 3:30 PM onwards in Room No. F-108, Department of Biotechnology, NIPER-SAS Nagar – 160062 (Punjab). The duly filled application form must be submitted at the time of the registration from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM in the same room. The candidates must ascertain their eligibility before applying, as ineligible candidates would not be interviewed.
