Applications are invited for post of Research Scientist at NIAB

NIAB, an autonomous institute under the aegis of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, is aimed to harness novel and emerging biotechnologies and create knowledge in the cutting edge areas for improving animal health and productivity. The Institute’s research focus is on animal genetics and genomics, transgenesis, stem cell & its applications, reproductive biotechnology, infectious diseases, nanotechnology, bioinformatics and Nutrigenomics. The Institute aims at translational research leading to genetic enhancement of Indian Livestock species and basic research towards development of novel vaccines, diagnostics and improved therapeutic molecules for farm animals.

Post : Project Research Scientist – I (non-medical); (1 Positions)

Applications are invited from suitable candidate for filling up the following position at National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB), Hyderabad, under Extramural Research Grant from Indian Council of Medical Research.

Project Title : Animal milk derived engineered exosomes as nanocarriers for oral delivery of recombinat human factor VII with extended bioavailability for cost-effective treatment of Hemophilia A
PI : Dr. Nirmalya Ganguli
Tenable upto : October 2024. Likely to be extended based on the performance.
Eligibility : For Project Research Scientist – I (non-medical) (1 Positions): 1st Class Post Graduate/Masters Degree in Life Sciences (Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Etc.) including the Integrated PG degree from a recognized university or 2nd Class Post Graduate/Masters Degree in Life Sciences (Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Etc.) including the Integrated PG degree from a recognized university with Ph.D degree (Ph.D must be awarded). Candidate with experience in any of the following will be preferred.
Experience : (i) Isolation and culture of mice/goat oocyte. In-vitro fertilisation of mice/goat oocyte.
(ii) Retrieval of mice embryo followed by microinjection of embryo. Embryo transfer in pseudo pregnant female mice.
(iii) Handling and experimentation on rodent and goat model.
(iv) Generation of expression vector for genome editing (knock-out and knock-in) using CRISP – Cas9 tools,
(v) Regulation of gene expression by shRNA mediated knock down,
(vi) Cell sorting by FACS/MACS, single cell sorting and generation of cell lines,
(vii) Isolation and culture of Stem cells, transfection and maintenance of stem cells, generation of iPSC, isolation and culture of cells from different tissue sources,
(viii) Various molecular biology techniques, like RT-PCR, QRT-PCR, Immuno histochemistry, Immune cytochemistry, Droplet Digital PCR, protein purification and western blot analysis,
(ix) Generation of expression vector by molecular cloning and its invitro characterisation, culture and maintenance of cell lines,


Fellowship amount : Rs. 56000/- PM + HRA as per the ICMR guidelines dated 1-08-2023.
Age : 35 years (Relaxation is admissible in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates as per Government instructions).
