G.B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development (GBPIHED) was established in 1988-89, during the birth centenary year of Bharat Ratna Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant, as an autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Govt. of India, which has been identified as a focal agency to advance scientific knowledge, to evolve integrated management strategies, demonstrate their efficacy for conservation of natural resources, and to ensure environmentally sound development in the entire Indian Himalayan Region (IHR).   The Institute attempts to maintain a balance of intricate linkages between socio-cultural, ecological, economic and physical systems that could lead to sustainability in the IHR.

Position: Research Associate (01 No.)
Emoluments: Rs. 36,000/ p.m. + HRA
Age: 35 years
Qualification (essential): Doctoral (Ph.D) or equivalent degree (or having three years of research experience after M.E./M.Tech./M. Pharma) with first class Masters degree in Botany, Forestry, Zoology, Biodiversity, Ecological Economics, Resource management.
Qualification (desirable): Specialization and/or experience of working in biodiversity conservation, Natural Resource Management, Ecological Economics, Climate Change impacts, Knowledge Networking, and knowledge product development
Nature of Duties & Responsibilities: Detailed information collection, analysis synthesis, knowledge networking, linkage with national global Institutions, extensive field work and knowledge product development

Position: Himalayan Research Associate (01 No.)
Emoluments: Rs. 36,000/ p.m. + HRA
Age: 35 years
Qualification (essential): PhD in Plant Biotechnology, Physiology and Biochemistry or M.Tech in any of the above subject with three years research experience
Qualification (desirable):Experience of working in Biochemical and Physiology response of Himalayan plants
Nature of Duties & Responsibilities: To conduct research, data collection, compilation and report writing

Position: Programme Officer (01 No.)
Emoluments: 31,890/- fixed p.m.
Age: 45 years
Qualification (essential): 1st class M.Sc. in Life Sciences along with good computer knowledge and 3 years experience
Qualification (desirable):Ph.D or working for Ph.D. and Knowledge of document preparation

Position: Junior Research Fellow/Junior Project Fellow (01 No.)
Emoluments: @ Rs. 25,000/ p.m. + HRA for NET(JRF) qualified candidate & Rs. 16,000/ p.m. + HRA for Non Net-JPF
Age: Maximum 28 Years
Qualification (essential): First Class Master degree in Botany/Ecology/Forestry/Environmental Sciences etc.
Qualification (desirable):Extensive ecological work in the forest areas; Physically fit to work in the Himalayan Mountains

The candidate with adequate qualification may appear for Walk-In-Interview on 05 December, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. onward at Kosi-Katarmal (Almora) campus of the Institute.
