Applications are invited for a walk-in interview for the recruitment of the following positions on a contractual basis under the DBT-funded project entitled ‘Potential probiotics from the fermented food and beverages of the northeast India for better gut health and disease management’ at the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST), Garchuk, Guwahati (Assam).
This project will jointly be executed with the industry partner, Bharat Biotech Int. Ltd (BBIL), Hyderabad for development of next generation probiotics from the traditional food sources of north east India.
Senior Project Associate
Number of post : 2
Salary : ₹ 42,000 + 18% HRA per month
Essential Qualifications : Master’s degree in Biotechnology/Microbiology from a recognized university with minimum four years’ research experience or PhD in Biological Sciences from a recognized university.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience : Post 1: Experience on rodent model handling, downstream processing and analysis of animal-derived samples. Experience on microbiological techniques, mammalian cell culture, and molecular biology techniques.
Post 2 : Experience on Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), including library preparation, sequencing, bioinformatics analysis and the use of computational tools/software for biological data analysis
Upper age limit : 40 years (Relaxation as per GOI guidelines).
Project Associate-II
Number of post : 2
Salary : Rs 35,000 + 18% HRA per month for candidates qualifying CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/GATE/ National level examination conducted by Central Govt. departments, agencies, Institutions. Or ₹ 28,000 + 18% for others.

Essential Qualifications : Master’s degree in Biotechnology/Microbiology/Zoology/Biochemistry/Pharmacology/Veterinary Sciences from a recognized university with minimum two years’ research experience in biological sciences.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience : Experience on handling of microbes, molecular biology techniques, sample processing, and standard microbiological laboratory practices.
Experience on rodent model handling, downstream processing and analysis of animal-derived samples.
Experience in project data management, documentation, maintenance of experimental records, and compilation and analysis of research results.
Upper age limit : 35 years (Relaxation as per GOI guidelines).
Laboratory Assistant
Number of post : 1
Salary : ₹ 20,000 + 18% HRA per month
Date of Interview : 19.06.2026 at 10:00 AM

Essential Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology /Microbiology/Zoology from a recognized university.
Desirable qualification and Experience : At least two years of experience of working in sponsored R&D projects.
Knowledge of project documentation, maintenance of laboratory records and handling of laboratory instruments.
Upper age limit : 50 years (Relaxation as per GOI guidelines).
Duration : The project duration is three years. Initial appointment will be for a period of 12 months and may be extended further based on satisfactory performance and project requirements.
