Life Sciences Fellowship at Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology

Applications are invited from Indian citizen for the position of Post-Doctoral Fellow (PDF) of Physical Sciences Division and Life Science Division of the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST), Guwahati, Assam.

Post : Post-Doctoral Fellow (PDF)

Age Limit : Upper age limit is 35 years at the time of the application. Relaxation as per GoI rules.
Fellowship : ₹80,000/- per month (consolidated)

Physical Sciences :
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics and Materials Science
Essential : M.Sc. in Physics Ph.D in Physics/ Materials Science/ Nanoscience from a recognized University/ Institute with expertise in synthesis and characterization of magnetic nanomaterials /advanced functional nanomaterials.
Desirable : Expertise in synthesis and characterization of magnetic nanomaterials. Experience of analyzing SQUID- VSM data, M-H, determination of crystal structure of magnetic nanomaterials etc. The candidate’s thesis work should be aligned with the aforementioned areas of expertise. Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis may also apply.

Life Sciences :
Tea-Microbe interactions and microbial Bioactive metabolites against plant and human pathogens
Essential : Ph.D degree in Biotechnology/ Microbiology/Life Sciences(Botany)/ Molecular Biology /Plant Pathology/ Agricultural Biotechnology from a recognized University/ Institute with research experience in plant-microbe interactions/microbial biocontrol of diseases and pests or bioactive metabolites against multi-drug resistant pathogens.
Desirable : Research experience in microbial consortia/ bio formulation development, plant disease management, metagenomics, secondary metabolites. Hands-on experience in molecular and microbiological techniques, including microbial culture handling, DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, sequencing analysis, bioinformatics tools. Experience in greenhouse/ field experiments, translational research, technology commercialization, or industry-linked research activities. Knowledge of advanced analytical and omics-based techniques and experience in patent drafting, and technology development. Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis may also apply

Essential criteria : 2 At least 2 first author publications (in the relevant subject area) in peer-reviewed national and/or international journals each having more than 2 impact factor.
Duration : Appointment will be for a period of 12 (twelve) months which may be extended maximum for a period of one year (6 months at a stretch) depending on the satisfactory performance of the candidate.

Nature of Support :
1. The fellowship cannot be availed by students who has worked for the Ph.D. degree at IASST.
2. Those who have submitted their PhD thesis and are awaiting award of the degree are also eligible to apply. However, such candidates, if selected, will be offered lower fellowship amount till they qualify the eligible degree.
3. The fellows will work under a mentor.
4. The fellowship can be availed only once by a candidate in his/her career.
5. The fellows are not eligible to receive any other fellowship from any Government or Non- Governmental source during the tenure of the fellowship.
6. The I-PDF is entitled to leaves as per norms of the host institution.

How to Apply
Interested candidate should apply through online within twenty- one days of publication of the advertisement. Only short listed candidates will be called for the interview and short presentation of her/his PhD work/Research proposal. The candidate should upload self-attested documents as mentioned in the online application. Further, they must have to bring their original mark-sheets, certificates and other credential if, called for interview. Shortlisted candidates may appear before the interview board through video conferencing, subject to prior approval.

N.B.
(1) No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
(2) Those in employment should submit a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the concerned employer.
(3) Those who have submitted Ph.D. thesis but degree not awarded yet should produce a thesis submission certificate from the Controller of Examination/ Registrar.
(4) Appointment and payment will be strictly as per IASST/DST rules and guidelines.
