Applications are invited from eligible candidates to work on the following post on a contract basis in a research project funded by Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF)-Advanced Research Grant (ARG) at the Department of Biochemistry at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, as per the details below.
Post : Senior Research Fellow – 01 post
Likely duration : 3 Years (Initial appointment will be given for six months, with extension based on performance)
Consolidated remuneration : Rs 42,000/- + HRA @20% (Rs. 8,400/-) = Rs. 50,400/- per month
Project title : Development of a chip to predict steroid responsiveness in children with idiopathic nephrotic syndrome: A global whole transcriptomics (lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA network) based approach

Eligibility criteria (Qualifications and experience)
A. Essential: 1. First class post graduate degree, including the integrated PG degrees with two years’ experience or Post Graduate degree in professional courses or PhD.
2. Disciplines : Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics
B. Desirable
1. Qualification in any of the national level exam is desirable – NET, GATE or national level examination conducted by DBT, UGC, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, etc.
2. Experience in phlebotomy, working and managing human samples.
3. Experience in basic laboratory skills, including RNA extraction, cDNA conversion, qPCR, ELISA, LC-MS, sequencing sample preparation and other laboratory skills.
4. Basic experience in bioinformatics including handling of genomic data, quality control, alignment, analysis using R/Python, target prediction, pathway enrichment analysis (GO/KEGG), and statistical data visualization.
5. Excellent computer skills in MS office, Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, email video conferencing, and cloud storage.
6. Good communication skills.
7. Scientific writing skills as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
8. Literature review using references manager, data handling, analysis, interpretation and report writing.
9. Good working knowledge of research databases, statistical software.
10. Trained in GLP and ethics in the conduct of research with human participants
Maximum Age Limit : Up to 30 years
Nature of work/responsibilities and expectations
1. Will be responsible for implementation of overall project workplan.
2. Assist the Project Lead in project management and execution.
3. Overall supervision of laboratory research work related to project
4. Collection and processing of biological samples as per study protocol.
5. Data collection, entry, and maintenance of study records.
6. Coordination of patient follow-up and assistance during clinical visits.
7. Harmonization of lab SOP for biological specimen collection, storage, complete log, quality check, and usage, along with well-annotated clinical data.
8. Harmonization of SOP for all lab experiments.
9. Coordination with the study team for proper functioning of the study.
10. Communication with ANRF/ARG/other research committees for protocol amendment and annual reports.
11. Maintenance of all documents related to the study, conduct periodic audits, and prepare annual reports, research data analysis, writing report and manuscripts.
12. Communication with the collaborating institute, an autonomous research institute established under DBT, Govt. of India.
13. Coordinate between JIPMER and collaborating institute to ensure smooth integration of clinical data, managing transcriptome analysis and validation studies across both institutes.
14. There is scope for project-based PhD registration in this project, with PI as Supervisor for the PhD work. However, this is subject to the completion of the formalities as per JIPMER guidelines and the approval of the JIPMER administration.
15. Occasionally travel to the collaborating institute, as and when required, to support joint activities, training and research exchange.
16. Other research related work assigned by PI.

Terms & Conditions
1. This position Is purely on contract basis for an externally sponsored project, and the person engaged will have no claim to any regular post in JIPMER at any time. Further, the position is only for the duration of the project and based purely on external funding support for the project.
2. The engagement may be extended or curtailed at discretion of the Principal Investigator.
3. Qualification and experience should be in a relevant discipline/field and in a reputed institution/organization. The experience should have been gained after acquiring the essential qualification.
4. Qualification, experience, other terms and conditions may be relaxed/ altered at the discretion of the Principal Investigator.
5. Valid email ID and mobile number are compulsory.
6. Consolidated salary of the post may vary from time to time. No other allowance/facilities other than consolidated salary shall be extended.
7. Submission of wrong or false information at any stage during the process of selection or canvassing of any kind will lead to disqualification or even termination if detected after the person has been engaged.
8. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test/interview.
9. Incomplete applications and applications that are not in the prescribed format and those not fulfilling the essential criteria above are likely to be summarily rejected.
