BRIC-National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (BRIC-NABI) is an autonomous Institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. BRIC-NABI aims at catalysing the transformation of the Agri- food sector in India by being a nodal organization for knowledge generation and translational science leading to value-added products based on Agri-Food biotech innovations for improved household nutritional security. Since its inception in 2010, BRIC-NABI is involved in research activities for Bio-fortification, the development of designer crops for improved nutrition, providing sustainable and novel solutions for quality food and nutrition, and the development of evidence-based functional foods to counter malnutrition.
The food and nutritional Biotechnology division at BRIC-NABI requires the following research personnel purely on a temporary basis.
Project Associate I (One position)
Project Title : “Developing abiotic stress tolerant high-yielding ‘STuRDY’ rice in mega- variety Swarna through genome editing.” (GAP-92)
Principle Investigator : Prof. Ashwani Pareek, Executive Director, BRIC-NABI
Duration : One Year, extendable on annual basis for subsequent years subject to satisfactory progress.
Essential Qualification : Post graduate degree in any branch of life sciences /biotechnology or Graduate/Post Graduate in any branch of life sciences or biotechnology or Post Graduate in any branch of life sciences /biotechnology selected through a process described through any one of the following
a) Scholars are selected through National Eligibility Tests-CSIR UGC NET including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.
b) The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies and institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.
Desirable Experience : General plant molecular biology and plant tissue culture-related techniques, plant transformation.
Emoluments : - Rs. 31,000/- per month plus HRA (Emoluments and eligibility are as per DST OM SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated 10th July, 2020).

Research Associate-II (One position)

The applicant with thesis submission shall also be eligible for SRF and shall be appointed as RA subject to submission of the provisional PhD. degree.
Desirable Experience : Experience in the area of crop-plant molecular biology, genome editing tools and its application in crop. At least two relevant research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Emoluments: - Rs. 61,000/- per month plus HRA (As per DST OM No. DST/PCPM/Z-06/2022 dated 26.06.2023)

Junior Research Fellow (One position)
Project Title : “Valorisation of pectic oligosaccharides from juice industry waste for functional food product development” (GAP-87)
Principle Investigator : Dr. Koushik Mazumder, Scientist-F, BRIC-NABI
Duration : The appointment will initially be for one year and may continue until the completion of the
project, subject to the availability of funds from the sponsoring agency. Further extension will be based
on performance evaluation and project requirements.
Essential Qualification :
Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in professional course
selected through a process described through any one of the following: -
1. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests-CSIR-UGC-NET including Lectureship
(Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE.
2. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by central government
departments and their agencies and institutions such as DST, DBT, ICMR, etc.
Desirable Experience :
Prior experience in food product development, in vitro and in vivo animal studies will be preferred.
Responsibilities :
1. JRF will be responsible for development and evaluation of quality attributes of functional food product based on pectic oligosaccharides (POS).
2. JRF will be responsible for evaluation of health benefits of functional food product by in vitro and in vivo model.
Emoluments: - Rs.37,000/- per month (As per DST PCPM/Z-06/2022 dated 26th June, 2023) plus HRA.

Senior Research Fellow (One position)
Project Title : “Genome Editing to Improve Shelf Life and Quality of stored Seed lipid” (NABI-Core)
Principle Investigator : Dr. Rupam Kumar Bhunia, Scientist-E, BRIC-NABI
Duration : The initial appointment will be for a period of one year. Extension will be subject to the submission of a progress report and a subsequent evaluation of the candidate’s performance.
Essential Qualification : 1. Postgraduate degree in Life Science/Biotechnology/Botany/Biochemistry.
2. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests-CSIR-UGC-NET, including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE
3. The selection process via National-level examinations conducted by central government departments and their agencies and institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.
4. Two years of research experience. Desirable Experience: Hands-on experience in genome editing and plant tissue culture, including Agrobacterium-mediated transformation, regeneration, and handling of transgenic plants.
Responsibilities :
i. Identification of candidate genes
ii. Transformation of CRISPR constructs
iii. Screening of edited lines and lipid analysis using GC.

Project Title : “Development of electrospun plastic antibodies and advanced material-based biosensing strips for efficient and facile detection of protein allergens (gluten, β- lactoglobulin, ovalbumin) in food products” (GAP-107)
Principle Investigator : Dr. Vanish Kumar, Scientist-C, BRIC-NABI
Duration : The appointment will be initially for two years as JRF. Further up-gradation from JRF to SRF will be on the basis of the submission of a progress report and further assessment.
Essential Qualification : Postgraduate degree in Basic Science or Graduate/ Postgraduate in the professional course selected through a process described through any one of the following:
a) Scholars are selected through National Eligibility Tests-CSIR UGC NET including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.
b) The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies and institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, etc.

• Selected individual will play an important role in advancing this research, particularly through planning, designing, and performing experimental work. This individual will work on the development of sensing platforms by modifying nanomaterials surface with desired receptors, and evaluate the performance of the developed materials. Candidate is expected to help in coordinating the project and other existing projects in the lab. Candidate will also help in the collection of samples from field, preparation of reports for funding agencies and writing the manuscripts for publication.
Emoluments: - 67,000/- per month plus HRA (As per DST OM No. DST/PCPM/Z-06/2022 dated 26.06.2023)

Application Procedure & Other Conditions
1. All interested candidates may appear for Walk-In-Interview at National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute located at Knowledge city, Sector-81, Mohali, Punjab- 140306, on 29.05.2026 at 09:00 A.M. along with the duly filled application form available on the website nabi.res.in.
2. Interested candidates must apply using the prescribed application form attached to the advertisement on the official website. Please note that CVs or expressions of interest sent via email or phone will not be accepted or treated as valid applications.
3. The applications should be submitted strictly as per the prescribed format that can be downloaded from the NABI website.
4. Candidates applying for more than one post can give their preference by writing different designations in the same application form.
5. Candidates should ensure that information mentioned in the application form is accurate. Once the application form is submitted no further request regarding any changes/ information in the application form will be considered.
6. The duly filled application form must be submitted at the time of registration at NABI from 09:00 AM to 10:00 AM on 29.05.2026. 7. The candidates must ascertain their eligibility before applying, as ineligible candidates will not be interviewed.
8. All the candidates are requested to appear for a Walk-In interview with an application form, experience certificates, publications, and original degree certificates and transcripts.
9. Original mark sheets, certificates, award/fellowship, etc must be accomplished for verification at the time of the interview and attach one set of attested copies of the documents with the application form.
10. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the interview.
11. Canvassing in any form or bringing influence, political or otherwise, will lead to disqualification of the candidate(s).
12. Candidates should strictly adhere to guidelines issued by World Health Organization and Centre Govt/State Govt on Covid-19. 13. In the event of special circumstances, candidates may request the project investigator (via email) to conduct their interviews online. Such requests must be submitted well in advance, preferably at least one week prior to the scheduled interview date. However, the final decision will be taken by the selection committee to ascertain the special circumstances and allow the candidate (s) for an online interview. The Institute reserves the right to conduct the interview in online/offline mode.
14. Interview results will be published on the NABI website.
15. The last date to submit the online application is 25.05.2026. No applications will be entertained thereafter.
Note : Permission for online interview may be sought from the PI at least one week prior to the interview date and a valid reason must be given for the same.
