IARI Hiring Research Scientist, Technical Support - Genetics/ Biotechnology/ Life Sciences

The journey of Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), popularly known as Pusa Institute, began in 1905 at Pusa with the generous grant of 30,000 pounds from an American philanthropist, Mr. Henry Phipps. The institute was then known as Agricultural Research Institute (ARI) which functioned with five departments, namely Agriculture, Cattle Breeding, Chemistry, Economic Botany and Mycology. Bacteriology unit was added in 1907.

Applications are invited for the following post in an ICMR funded project “Unravelling the multi-targeted curative potential of indigenous medicinal herbs and their phytochemicals against Friedreich’s Ataxia: an integrated approach”. The posts are purely on contractual basis.

Project Research Scientist - III (One post)
Emoluments : Rs 78,000/-p.m. +HRA 30% @Rs. 23,400 (5% Salary increase in 3rd Year)
Eligibility criteria : Essential (as per ICMR guidelines) Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG degrees, with five years’ post qualification experience or PhD + two years post qualification experience. Desirable Minimum four publications as first/ corresponding author in relevant field.

Project Technical Support - III (One post)
Emoluments : Rs 28,000/-p.m. +HRA 30% @ Rs 8,400p.m. (5% Salary increase in 3rd year)
Essential : (as per ICMR guidelines) Master’s degree in Genetics/ Plant Breeding/ Genetics and Plant Breeding/ Biotechnology/ Botany/ Life Sciences or allied subjects with 4/5 years bachelor’s degree. Those with 3 years bachelor’s degree must have UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET qualification or equivalent
Desirable : Research experience in handling Drosophila (fruit fly)

1. Age limit : Maximum age 45 years for Project Research Scientist-Ill, Maximum age of 35 years for Project Technical Support-Ill and Maximum age of 25 years for office (age relaxation of five years for SC/ST & women and three years for OBC)
2. The posts are purely temporary and will be filled on contractual basis initially for up to 31-03-2026, which may be extended periodically subject to performance till the termination of the project.
3. The selected candidate shall not claim regular appointment at this Institute, as the post is co-term in us with the project.
4. The interview for eligible candidates will be held offline, the details of which will be communicated to eligible candidates by email.
5. Reporting time for interview will be communicated and the candidate shall adhere to the instructions.
6. The candidates will have to compulsorily filled in application form (as per the format annexed), all the scan certificates from matriculation onwards, date of birth certificate, degree certificate either original or provisional and a recent photograph enclosed onto the scan application form. Proof of experience and publications also need to be sent by email. The selected candidate will be required to produce all the original documents and medical certificate at the time of joining.

7. Only the candidates having essential qualifications would be entertained for the interview.
8. Concealing of facts or canvassing in any form shall lead to disqualification or termination.
9. The candidate intending to attend the interview, if any of his near or distant relative is an employee of the ICAR/IARI, have to declare his/her name, designation, nature of duties, relationship in writing. If on the date of interview such declaration is furnished and found that his relative is an employee of ICAR/IARI, such candidate will not be allowed to appear in the interview.
10. All the other candidates are also required compulsorily submit the scan declaration duly signed in the format annexed along with other documents in the e-mail.
11. In case of any disputes, it will be resolved in the jurisdiction of New Delhi court only.
