Applications are invited for the position of PhD Scholar in the Department of Chemistry at BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus, Goa for a Kakatiya Grassroot Innovation Projects (K-GRIP) funded project of BITS, Pilani sponsored research project titled “Piloting environment friendly ultraviolet-c light emitting diode technology for safe drinking water” (KGP/25/1013).
PhD Scholar position under Kakatiya Grassroot Innovation Projects (K-GRIP) funded project of BITS, Pilani
Principal Investigator : Prakash Halan, Chemistry, Goa
Broad area of Research : Chemistry and Biology interdisciplinary, and Water Analysis and Treatment. The candidate will have the opportunities to work on development of safe, robust point of use (POU ) water purifiers, involving the concepts and mechanisms related to adsorption, photolytic, photocatalytic, and disinfection technologies, and their sustainable implementation and evaluations in rural settings, to enhance the safe water accessibility and lowering the risk of waterborne diseases
Duration of the project : 5 years
Fellowship Amount (Rs.) : ₹ 37000/ pm for first two years, and ₹ 42000/pm for third to fifth year*.
Accommodation : Hostel accommodation will be provided subject to availability and will be governed by the rules and regulations of the Institute prevailing at the time of joining of the candidate.
Qualification : Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science (Chemical Sciences- Physical, inorganic, organic and analytical chemistry, Biological Sciences-microbiology and Environmental Sciences), OR Graduate/Post Graduate in Degree in Professional Course (M.Tech in Biotechnology and Environmental Science/technology) selected through a process described through any one of the following:- 1. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests- CSIR–UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE. 2. The Selection process through National level examinations conducted by central Government departments and their agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.

*Selected candidate will get a chance to apply for PhD degree at BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus (Rules of PhD program for BITS Pilani are applicable). There will be periodic performance evaluation as per the institute norms for PhD program.
