Post : Junior Research Fellow

Project title : DBT Pan IIT Center for Bioenergy - Phase 2
About the project : Cyanobacteria are powerful model systems for sustainable green production due to their photosynthetic efficiency and simple genetic architecture. We have proposed a metabolomics - guided bioengineering strategy to systematically map and optimize carbon flux pathways. By integrating systems biology with targeted metabolic rewiring, we aim to enhance the yield of bioenergy substitutes such as biofuels and high-value biochemicals.

Essential Qualifications & Experience :
• Master’s degree in Bioanalytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical analysis or a closely related field, with six months to one year of research experience.
• Candidates who have qualified GATE or GPAT and similar exams conducted on a national level will be preferred.
• Demonstrated hands-on expertise in Mass spectrometry (GC/ LC) based chromatographic method development and method validation, is a must.
• Experience in mass spectrometry data analysis is essential, including strong skills in processing raw mass spectrometry data, annotating peaks, and performing statistical analysis. Highly proficient in utilizing established metabolomics platforms for multivariate statistical modeling and pathway interpretation is required.
• Candidates with demonstrated expertise in mining and analyzing public omics datasets will be considered an added advantage.
• Proficient in biological sample handling and advanced sample preparation techniques, including protein precipitation (PP) and liquid–liquid extraction (LLE) along with chemical derivatization protocols for LC/GC–MS/MS–based metabolomics and knowledge of volatilomics, will be preferred.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication skills with ability to work in interdisciplinary research environments.
• Basic knowledge of MS Office word/ excel/ power point is required.

Job Profile :
• This job requires an on-site experimental work and cannot be done remotely.
• Work towards deliverables of the project. Designing of the experiments and practical execution of the work.
• The project requires developing chromatographic methods for untargeted and targeted metabolomics and enable comprehensive interpretation of mass spectrometric data omics-driven bioengineering.
• Design and conduct experiments as per the objectives.
• Work in co-ordination with other team members towards achieving the targets.
• Timely documentation of the results and preparation of concise progress report.

Pay Details : Consolidated Salary Rs. 37000/- per month.

General information :
