IIT Ropar invites applications for Chemistry PhD Admission 2026

The department of chemistry was established in 2009 to conduct cutting edge interdisciplinary research and impart high quality education in emerging areas of Chemical Science. The department was started with only four faculty members and three PhD students, and has grown significantly in last 14 years. It has 15 regular faculty and has more than eighty PhD students and 8 Post-doctoral fellows. The department has active research programs in emerging areas like Biomaterials, Biosensors, Catalysis, Drug Delivery, Materials, Organometallic Chemistry, Renewable Energy, Supramolecular Syntheses, Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Theoretical Chemistry, Ultracold Chemistry, etc. The research activities at the department are supported by state-of-the-art research facilities.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Candidates with masters or equivalent degree in Chemistry/ Biochemistry/ Materials Science and Technology/ Pharmaceutical Sciences/ Biotechnology/ Physics or related areas with 6.5 grades point out of 10 or 60% marks (Gen/OBC) and 6.0 grade points or 55% marks (SC/ST).
Candidates meeting this requirement must also fulfill one of the following additional requirements (valid).
a) GATE qualification.
b) UGC/CSIR-NET or equivalent qualification.
c) DST-INSPIRE or other national fellowship.
Note : M.Tech. or equvalentcardidatEswitjh6.5 grade points out of 10 or 60% marks are exempted from the requirement of GATE qualification.
