National Institute for Plant Biotechnology (NIPB) is the premiere research institution of the Indian Council of Agricultural research (ICAR), engaged in plant molecular biology and biotechnology research. The Biotechnology Centre, established in 1985, as part of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), was upgraded to a National Research Centre on Plant Biotechnology in the year 1993, with a vision to impart the biotechnology advantage to the National Agricultural Research System (NARS). In February 2019, NRCPB was elevated to the level of National Institute for Plant Biotechnology (ICAR-NIPB). 

Post : Junior Research Fellow

Applications from Indian nationals are invited for temporary engagement as per below. Engagement shall be purely on contractual basis. 

Title of the Project : Development and Validation of a High-Throughput Genome- Wide SNP array for Sugarcane (Saccharum Spp.)
Funding Agency : Department of Biotechnology
Duration of the Project : For a period of one year from the date of appointment or termination of the project, whichever is earlier. Extendable based on satisfactory performance

Emoluments Fixed per month (Rs.) : Rs. 37000/- + 30% HRA 

Essential Qualifications : 1. Master’s degree in Bioinformatics or Biotechnology with Bachelor’s degree in any life science discipline, “preference will be given to candidate with plant genomics background” Candidates must have a minimum of 60% marks in postgraduation. 
2. The candidate must have qualified any one of the following :- a. Scholars who are selected through NET – CSIR-UGC NET including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship ) or GATE. b. The selection Process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, IARI, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.

Desirable Qualifications : Research experience in genomics data handling (SNP discovery, array design, bioinformatics analysis, etc.) Scientific writing as evidenced from publication/ fellowship/ associateship/ training

1. Interested candidates will attend the Walk-In-Interviews with 2 copies of Application form along with 2 self – attested copies of all the documents related to educational qualifications/experience/publications etc. The candidates must also bring all the Original documents for verification. 
2. The Original of following documents, along with 2 self-attested copies, mentioned below must be brought by the candidate to secure their eligibility for taking Interviews

XI. Experience Certificate (as & where applicable)
XII. No-Objection Certificate (essentially required if currently employed, as &
where applicable)
XIII. Conversion factor from CGPA to percentage, wherever applicable.
XIV. PhD. Degree certificate. (as & where applicable)
XV. PhD marksheet. (as & where applicable)
XVI. SC/ST/OBC Non-Creamy Layer/PH certificate as applicable.
XVII. Copy of publication if any.
XVIII. Any other relevant documents.
Those candidates who fail to bring the documents mentioned above on the date of Interviews, their candidature is liable to be cancelled.

3. Only candidates having essential qualifications would be considered for the interviews. 
4. Number of post as advertised may increase or decrease depending upon the requirement of the Institute and various undergoing/running projects having same essential qualifications. 
5. Incomplete applications without requisite documents in any form will be summarily rejected. 
6. All the claims made in application form needs to be attached with substantial documentary evidence else the claim will not be considered. 
7. For claiming experience, necessary experience certificate duly issued by competent authority has to be enclosed with application for consideration of the same. 
9. Age Limit (as on the date of Interview): Upper age limit for application to the post of /jRF is mentioned as under (As per ICAR guidelines)
Male : 35 years
Female : 40 years
10. No TA/DA would be given for appearing in the interview. 


11. The positions are purely temporary, on a contractual basis and initially offered for one year or till project duration whichever is earlier. However, the positions can be terminated with one months’ notice owing to any change in circumstances. The person selected will have no right to claim employment or engagement in ICAR at the end of the contract period. 
12. Concealing of facts/canvassing shall lead to disqualification of the candidature. 
13. The Competent Authority/Director of the Institute reserves the right to accept or reject any or all the applications without assigning any reason thereof. 
14. The decision of the Competent Authority/Director of the Institute will be final and binding in all aspects. 
15. In case of any disputes, it will be resolved within the jurisdiction of New Delhi Court only. 
16. Candidates are advised to keep checking the Institute website on a regular basis for any kind of further information regarding interview. 

17. The tentative date of interview is 07-04-2026. 
The candidates shall report at LBS Building, Pusa Campus, New Delhi – 110012 at 9.30 am.
