Applications are invited for post of Technical Assistant at NIPGR

The facility is affiliated with National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi (NIPGR) and serve to facilitate genotyping services with private service providers and then advanced these, in a focused way, to meet the goal of food and nutritional security through genomics led breeding. The fundamental principle is relatively simple create and charter an entity with express purpose of serving crop or plant varietal genotyping and characterization in India. It will also help to overcome legal hurdles in Material Transfer, IPR protection, etc.

Post : Technical Assistant (two post)

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary positions in Project Management Unit (PMU) of DBT Multi-institutional project “Characterization of chickpea germplasm resource to accelerate genomics-assisted crop improvement”, under mission programme of “Characterization of genetic resources” under the supervision of Dr. Subhra Chakraborty, Director, NIPGR.

Emoluments : Rs. 20000/- plus 24% HRA as sanctioned in the project.
Upper Age limit : 50 years

Qualification : Candidates having Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Life Sciences/Plant Science/ Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Microbiology from a recognized university or equivalent with at least 60% marks, having research experience in Computer Applications/Molecular Biology Laboratory and fulfilling the DST/DBT guidelines are eligible to apply. The candidate having research experience in the field of plant genetics, genomics, multiomics, molecular breeding, gene editing/transgenics and in any field of computer applications, software development & web development is desirable.


The positions are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The initial appointment will be for one year, which can be extended / curtailed on the basis of assessment of the candidate’s performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualification and experience of the candidate. Reservation of post shall be as per Govt. of India norms.

Eligible candidates may apply by sending soft copy through e-mail in the given format with a cover letter showing interest along with self- attested soft copies of the mark-sheets, certificates, (from Class X onwards) and proof of research experience/publications. A single pdf file, consisting of application from cover letter, and all documents, must be sent to sclab105@gmail.com within 15 days from the date of advertisement. The interview will be through hybrid mode. However, in person interview will be preferred. Those candidates who opt for virtual interview, a web-link with date and time of online interview will be e- mailed to the shortlisted candidates. Incomplete application and lack of supporting educational/experience certificates will be rejected. The candidates must ascertain their eligibility before applying, as ineligible candidates will not be interviewed.
