Post: Senior Scientific Officer (Laboratory Technical Position)

Based at our Stratford campus, the School of Health and Bioscience has experienced considerable growth over the last 5 years at approximately 10-15% per annum. We are rapidly developing our post graduate and research programmes, involving wide collaboration in the UK and overseas.

We are now seeking a Senior Scientific Officer (Technician) to contribute to the continued growth and success of the School. You will have a passion for providing the highest quality, multi-specialist technical expertise and support to students, staff and external partners for the teaching, research and consultation work of the School.

You will have a postgraduate qualification with experience and working knowledge of a wide range of laboratory techniques and equipment, in two or more of the following life science disciplines: immunology, genetics, molecular biology, biotechnology and cell biology. Additionally, you will have excellent and up-to-date laboratory Health & Safety knowledge and the ability to train staff and students in developing their scientific knowledge and ability to use complex laboratory equipment. The post requires excellent understanding of a wide range of equipment, trouble shooting and minor repairs.

Excellent organisation and communication skills are essential, as well as a strong customer care focus and a commitment to the student experience. A good team player, you will also have a drive for excellence in everything that you do.

A successful external candidate for this position would be employed by UEL Professional Services Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of UEL.
