Interview for the Positions of Research Associate-I, Project Associate, and Field Assistant.
Title of Project : “Bioengineering of Rhodopseudomonas for sustainable CO₂ capture and improved soil fertility to enhance crop productivity and Climate-smart agriculture".
Age Limit : Below 35 years
Duration : Initially for one year, extendable to one more year based on performance.
Research Associate I (One position)
Salary : Rs.58,000/- + HRA% (as applicable)
Qualification : PhD in Biotechnology / Microbiology / Plant Biology / Bioengineering / Agricultural Microbiology / Life Sciences from a recognized university. Should have strong experience in design and development of research experiments with at least one first authored research paper in SCI journal. Candidate should have strong experience in microbial engineering, synthetic/structural biology, or metabolic pathway modification, preferably in photosynthetic or soil bacteria with good analytical skills and familiarity with omics approaches (transcriptomics / metabolomics) and bioinformatics tools will be preferred.
Job description :
• Engineering and functional characterization of photosynthetic bacterial strains for enhanced CO₂ capture.
• Conducting lab-scale and greenhouse/field experiments on soil fertility and crop productivity.
• Monitoring greenhouse gas flux (CO₂, CH₄) and analyzing carbon sequestration efficiency.
• Flexible to work in different locations including field experiment and other related projects.
• Data Integration & Reporting: Analyze experimental datasets (physiological, molecular, gas flux) and contribute to LCA and carbon accounting frameworks.
• Assisting in project coordination and mentoring junior researchers/students.
Project Associate (One position)
Salary : Rs.42,000/- + HRA% (as applicable)
Qualification : M.Sc. / M.Tech. in Life Sciences / Agricultural Microbiology / Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Bioengineering / Molecular Biology / Bioinformatics / structural biology/ Genomics / Pharmacy or any other related subject, with two- years of research experience in R& D in industrial / academic / scientific institutions.
Candidate should have experience in handling microbial cultures, gas exchange measurements (CO₂/CH₄), carbon capture systems, or bioreactor operations.
Job description :
• Assist in engineering and optimizing strains
• Perform real-time monitoring of CO₂ and CH₄ flux; ensure data quality for MRV (Measurement, Reporting, Verification) frameworks.
• Bioprocess Optimization: Maintain and operate photobioreactors, optimize growth parameters, and scale up cultures.
• Soil & Plant Interface Studies: Conduct greenhouse and field experiments to evaluate impact on soil fertility, microbial dynamics, and crop productivity in multiple locations.
• Data Integration & Reporting: Analyze experimental datasets (physiological, molecular, gas flux) and contribute to LCA and carbon accounting framework
Field Assistant (One position)
Salary : Rs.20,000/- + HRA% (as applicable)
Qualification : Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc./B.Tech.) or Diploma in Agriculture / Life Sciences / Microbiology / Environmental Science or related field. Basic knowledge of field experiments and agricultural practices. Candidate with experience in handling field trials, crop management, and soil sampling. Familiarity with greenhouse work, irrigation practices, and fertilizer application. Exposure to basic lab techniques sample preparation, weighing, data recording).
Job description :
• Field Trial Management: Assist in layout, maintenance, and monitoring of experimental plots for crop productivity, data recording and soil health studies.
• Sample Collection & Processing: Collect soil, plant, and water samples and ensure proper labelling, storage, and transport to the laboratory.
• Assist in field-based measurements, installation and handling of sensors, and recording observations.
• Logistics & Coordination : Support day-to- day field operations at different locations, and coordination with research staff.

Round II : In-Person Interview at RCB
• Candidates shortlisted based on their performance in the Online Interview (Round I) will be invited for an in-person interaction with the Selection Committee at RCB.
• The final selection will be made based on the candidate's overall performance in both rounds of the selection process
