NFSU Invites application from Life Sciences / Biotechnology candidates

National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), an Institution of National Importance, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, is a multi-disciplinary University and the world’s first and only University dedicated to Forensic Sciences. It was established by the Government of India through the NFSU Act, 2020 (32 to 2020).

Applications are invited from interested and eligible candidates for Project Associate –I (1 No.) and Project Assistant/Field Assistant (1 No.) detailed in below under the project titled “Developing a SNP-Based Fingerprint for Human-Livestock-Wildlife Safety and Coexistence in Central India” funded by ANRF, purely on a contractual basis (Indian national only) initially for one year from the date of engagement but likely extendable up to three years for project Associate I & Two and half years for Project Assistant based on the candidate’s performance and project requirement, under the project. The positions being offered are strictly temporary/contractual and co-terminus with the project.

Project Associate (PA)
No. of Post : 1 (One)
Academic and research experience qualification : Essential Qualification Master’s degree in Natural Sciences (Zoology / Wildlife Science / Life Sciences / Biotechnology / Biological Sciences) or relevant degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks/ or Four years Bachelor’s degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences relevant to project position.
Desirable Qualification : Experience in molecular genetics, wildlife forensics, population genetics, conservation genetics, or genomics with basic bioinformatics tools handling, camera trapping, and geospatial modeling.
Emoluments : (i) The candidate will be paid ₹37,000/- + HRA as per rules per month for candidates who are selected through : a. National Eligibility Tests like CSIR-UGC NET or UGC NET (including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship) or GATE/ OR
b. A selection process through national level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions. (ii) The candidate will be paid ₹30,000/- + HRA as per rules per month for others who do not fall under (i) above.

Project Assistant /Field Assistant
No. of Post : 1 (One)
Academic and research experience qualification : Essential Qualification Bachelor’s degree in science from a recognized university. Master candidates in Life Sciences or Forensic Sciences will be given preferences.
Desirable Qualification : Field or laboratory experience in Wildlife monitoring, DNA extraction, PCR and amplification, laboratory support, data handling, basic GIS, or conservation biology.
Emoluments : Candidates will be paid fix amount of ₹27,000/- + HRA as per rules per month

Important Note
a. It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure his/her eligibility for the post before submission of application.
b. Only shortlisted candidate will be allowed to appear before the interview panel, subject to his/her eligibility.
c. Depending on the number of candidates for the post, interviews may go till late in the day or may need to be conducted on the subsequent day. The candidates are required to make their arrangements accordingly.

Age Limit : The maximum age limit for Project Associate –I, is 35 years and 40 years for Project Assistant on last date of application. The age relaxation as per government rules 5 years for SC/ST/Women candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates.

Description of Work : The selected candidate will assist in field and laboratory components of the project, including collection and documentation of biological samples, DNA extraction, SNP genotyping, genomic data analysis, preparation of reports and manuscripts, maintenance of project databases, and coordination with forest department officials and collaborating institutions. Fieldwork will primarily be conducted in the adjoining forest landscapes of Madhya Pradesh.

General Instructions, Essential Information and Clarifications
1. The qualifications, experience, and eligibility of candidates shall be reckoned as on the last date of submission of the application.
2. The prescribed essential qualifications are the minimum requirements. Mere possession of the prescribed qualifications shall not entitle a candidate to be called for interview or selection. Candidates are advised to furnish details of all additional qualifications and relevant experience.
3. Candidates must submit the application form in the prescribed format along with self- attested copies of all relevant certificates, testimonials, experience certificates, and supporting documents. All documents must be properly indexed and serially numbered. 4. Applicants shall submit valid documentary proof in support of any change of name, if applicable, such as a Marriage Certificate, Gazette Notification, Aadhaar Card, or any other valid document.
5. Wherever a grading system is followed, candidates must provide the equivalent percentage based on the conversion formula prescribed by the concerned University/Institution.
6. The advertised posts are purely temporary and contractual in nature for an initial period of one year, extendable up to three years based on project requirements and satisfactory performance.
7. No employment, whether paid or honorary, shall be permitted during the tenure of the associateship/project engagement.
8. Candidates currently employed in Government, Semi-Government, Autonomous Bodies, Universities, PSUs, or other organizations must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at the time of interview.
9. The University reserves the right to verify all documents, testimonials, qualifications, experience, and antecedents submitted by candidates at any stage of the selection process or after appointment. If any information is found to be false, suppressed, or misleading, the candidature/appointment shall be liable to cancellation or termination.
10. Candidates must produce all original certificates and documents relating to educational qualifications, experience, age, caste/category (if applicable), and other credentials at the time of interview, failing which their candidature shall be rejected.

11. The interview/skill test shall be conducted in offline mode only at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Bhopal Campus. Requests for online interviews shall not be entertained.
12. The date and schedule of the interview/skill test shall be communicated separately to shortlisted candidates through email only.
13. No TA/DA shall be admissible for appearing in the interview/skill test.
14. The University shall communicate with eligible candidates only through their registered email addresses. Candidates are advised to regularly visit the Career Section of the University website and check their email for updates. The University shall not be responsible for any loss of communication due to incorrect email details furnished by the candidate.
15. Last date for submission of online applications is 20 June 2026 (up to 11:59 PM). Only candidates who apply through the prescribed online link and fulfill the eligibility criteria shall be considered for further selection process.
16. 17. Selected candidates may be posted at any project location/study site as per project requirements and shall be required to join within two weeks from the date of selection/offer.
18. Appointment shall be subject to the candidate being medically fit and in sound mental and physical health for efficient discharge of assigned duties.
19. Candidates possessing degrees, diplomas, or certificates from institutions declared fake, derecognized, or not recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or other competent authorities shall not be eligible.
20. Reservation, if applicable, shall be followed as per Government of India norms.

21. Canvassing in any form, directly or indirectly, shall lead to disqualification of the candidate.
22. The terms and conditions of engagement shall be communicated through an Offer of Appointment. Failure to accept the offer within the stipulated period shall result in automatic cancellation of the offer.
23. The University reserves the right:
• To withdraw the advertisement, either wholly or partly, at any stage without assigning any reason;
• To fill or not to fill any or all advertised positions;
• To increase or decrease the number of positions as per requirements and applicable procedures;
• To modify, cancel, or withdraw any communication issued during the recruitment process in case of any inadvertent error.
24. In all matters relating to eligibility, scrutiny of applications, shortlisting, selection procedure, interview, appointment, interpretation of rules, and resolution of disputes arising out of the recruitment process, the decision of the University shall be final and binding, and no correspondence shall be entertained.
