The Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), a specialized laboratory under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is dedicated to advancing the readiness, preparedness, and strategic resilience of the armed forces against radiological threats. The institute focuses on the development of radiation countermeasures with its mission of "Atom for Peace" and "Peace from Atom". INMAS plays a critical role in quickly estimating absorbed radiation doses for effective triage and advising first responders and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) on immediate remedial actions. It also provides tailored cbRNe training modules for military, paramilitary, elite forces, and national organizations handling security crisis. Furthermore, the institute explores the neural bases of cognitive and behavioural traits crucial to military performance, aiming to safeguard the health and wellbeing of soldiers and first responders in environments with ionizing radiation and other occupational hazards.
