The National Institute of Immunology is committed to advanced research addressing the basic mechanisms involved in body's defence to identify modalities for manipulation of the immune system to provide protection against diseases and understand mechanisms that can be used to target disease processes for intervention.

Post : Project Scientist-I (One position only) & Junior Research Fellow (Project) (Two positions only)

Applications are invited for the one position of Project Scientist-I & two positions of Junior Research Fellow (Project) for the following time-bound sponsored projects as per the details given below

Project Scientist-I
Educational Qualifications :  PhD (Biotechnology / Bioinformatics or Biological Sciences). (Degree must have been awarded) 
Job Description : The candidate will be domain expert for development of a database of secondary metabolite biosynthetic pathways based on literature curation for applications in synthetic biology & natural product discovery. Coordination with database/software developers. Organization of training programs in bioinformatics & NGS data analysis. 
Desirable : The candidate must have very good understanding of various experimental techniques in molecular biology, biochemistry, proteomics and metabolomics relevant for identification of secondary metabolite biosynthetic pathways and research programs in chemical & synthetic biology. The candidate should also have experience in bioinformatics techniques like sequence analysis, protein structure prediction and analysis of NGS data. Very good publication record in areas relevant to the project and post-doctoral work experience in interdisciplinary research environment are highly desirable. 
Emoluments : Rs 56,000/- consolidated p.m. plus 27% HRA (As per DST OM dated 10.07.2020)


Junior Research Fellow (Project)
Educational Qualifications : MSc (Bioinformatics/Biophysics/Biochemistry/Biotechnology) or Masters degree in any other stream of biological/physical/computational sciences or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine or Equivalent. Must have qualified NET-JRF. If candidates with NET-JRF are not available, those without NET JRF will be recruited with salaries as per DST norms. 
Job Description : Prediction and analysis of Protein structure and Analysis of Genome/Microbiome, Development of bioinformatics tools and softwares for Genome mining; Development of databases and softwares for genome analysis, installation/support of public domain softwares for structural bioinformatics in LINUX environment and system administration of computing/storage servers of Bioinformatics Center, NII. 
Desirable : Work experience in the area of Bioinformatics/IT/Computer Applications. Strong computer programming skills (in PERL/Python or C++ or object-oriented database management systems like MySQL etc. or scripting languages under LINUX/UNIX environment) and sufficient experience in computational analysis of biological/biochemical data. Publications in the area of bioinformatics & Computational biology will be desirable. The candidates must highlight their experience in programming and database development in their CV.
Emoluments : Rs 37,000/- consolidated p.m. plus 27% HRA (As per DST OM dated 26.06.2023)

General Terms & Conditions : 
1. The candidates selected for the above posts will be on contract for one year or till the duration of the project whichever is shorter, at a time. 
2. No hostel/ housing facility will be provided. 
3. Applicants may clearly mention the category they belong to i.e. SC/ST/OBC/PH and attach documentary proof of the same. 
4. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview, if called for. 
5. Apart from sending application in the prescribed format given below, candidates should send complete Curriculum Vitae along with the names of three referees. Curriculum Vitae should contain details of the experimental expertise and list of publications.

7. The interviews will be held in offline/online mode.
