Post : Project Research Scientist I
Project title : National Disease Modelling Consortium Phase II : Developing Models to Estimate and Project Disease Burden to Inform Control and/or Elimination Strategies for Priority Diseases in India.
About the project : IIT Bombay is the lead institution of the National Disease Modelling Consortium (NDMC). The consortium partners with various institutions across the country for disease modelling research. The consortium aims to develop India-specific disease models to address policy and programmatic questions, to improve disease control and intervention strategies in the country.
Essential Qualifications & Experience : MSc Sciences / Economics / Biostatistics / Demography / Public Health / Pharmaceutical Science or BE or equivalent degree
• Experience in mathematical modeling of infectious diseases, specifically compartmental/metapopulation models
• Proficient knowledge of any computer programming language, such as R, MATLAB, or Python
• Experience in clear communication of modeling results as journal publications/reports.
Job Profile
• Conduct data-driven analyses to inform disease prevention, control strategies, and burden estimation using advanced statistical and modeling techniques.
• Collaborate across disciplines to evaluate public health interventions, support evidence-based decisions, and develop open-source tools.
• Analyze healthcare costs using econometric models and decision analyses, including decision trees and Markov models.
• Contribute to publications and conferences.
• Perform additional duties as required.
Pay Details : Consolidated salary Rs.56000/- p.m. + HRA
General information : The position is temporary for a period of 1 year and tenable only for the duration of the project. The appointment is for time bound project and the candidate is required to work mainly for the successful completion of the project. The selection committee may offer lower or higher designation and lower or higher salary depending upon the experience and performance of the candidate in the interview.
