The origins of the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) are rooted in the Indian Cancer Research Centre (ICRC), which was established in 1952 in Parel, Mumbai, under the purview of the Ministry of Health, Government of India. In 1966, ICRC was renamed the Cancer Research Institute (CRI) and amalgamated with the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), creating the first comprehensive cancer centre in India - the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), an autonomous grant-in-aid institution of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India.

Post : Junior Research Fellow (ON PROJECT)

To work on the project titled : “Development of Next-Generation Bioengineered CAR-T Cells and CAR-NK Cells for Solid tumours” 

Name of the Project Principal Investigator (PI) : Dr. Albeena Nisar, CAR T Cell Therapy Center, ACTREC, Tata Memorial Center 

Name of the Funding Agency & Grant Project Title : Department of Biotechnology - Establishment of Multi-Centric and Interdisciplinary Cancer Immunotherapy Network (CIN) for the Design & Development of Novel Indigenous, Affordable Cell Therapy Products for Cancer in India

Essential Educational Qualification & Experience : Mandatory 
• Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR 
• Graduate / Post Graduate Degree Professional Course selected through any one of the following : a. CSIR-UGC NET (including Assistant Professorship) and GATE b. Selected through national level examination conducted by Central Government or the agencies (ICMR, DBT, DAE, DST, IIT, IISER, NISER, IISc etc.) qualified.

Preferred Experience : Candidates with any of the following relevant experience (even 1–2) will be given preference: 
• Viral Vector Handling : Expertise in lentiviral/retroviral vector manufacturing, purification (upstream & downstream steps) 
• Immunoengineering Techniques: Experience in designing ScFv constructs, antibody sequencing, gene synthesis and cloning 
• Computational Skills & Vector Design: CRISPR-Cas9, gene editing, and in silico tools 
• In Vivo Preclinical Skills: Experience with murine solid tumor models, including animal dosing, tumor implantation, and survival analysis. 
• Immune Cell Culture experience & Functional Assays


Salary : Rs. 46,990/-p.m. (Rs. 37,000/- + 27% HRA). 

Duration : 6 months with further extension depending on satisfactory performance.
